What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Grandmother's 80s Bendixes - not as nice as the square-doors, but quiet, smooth-running and I liked the drum design. Some Hotpoint at home - barely remember it. It broke down repeatedly. A family friend had a mid-90s AEG which seemed really well-built, and it lasted him and his lodgers over 15 years of daily use. I've loved the Mieles I've encountered, would love to get some as/when I have room. Also have a soft spot for the old Hoover Logics.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
First decent machine we had at home was a Bosch WFF2001, bought in October 1998, which finally succumbed to electronic failure in about 2013, albeit having required several replacement parts. I stripped it for every part I could keep off it and replaced it with a WFT2801 washer-dryer. I also inherited a WAE24162 from a great-aunt, along with an ancient 80s Bosch vented dryer, which ultimately burned out its electrics. Replaced that with a WTL6106.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Not really... stripping the WFF2001 for parts is the biggest job I've done.
