Surface Rust Probably! Sure looks like an Easy,maybe contracted by them right after the war.Easy used such thin paint,almost always surface rust on them,that I have seen.

Its Not Bad! I just changed the belt last week on my 1955,you lay it down on its front and worst part is getting the belt between brake yoke,I used a tire iron to seperate the yoke and slip the belt between it,I didnt realize the belt was so bad the machine was stopping in the middle of washes...

Copper dip I bought one like that,and polished it with brasso.It took the old clear coat off of it and then I took paint thinner not turpinetine,that would leave an oil finish on it,then I sprayed it with a good poly high gloss coating.These were probably dipped in copper on a conveyor system...

Microwaves for home use! Tappan had started home use in 1955,they were built in like the Westinghouse.I have seen ads in magazines at least as far back as 1956.Expensive though!!!

My set is 60 years old! I still use a Kenmore set almost every day! Tol set from 1955.My clothes are still clean and the washer still clunks along,the dryer on med will dry a load in 50min! Its like an old car if you use it you have less trouble with it.Sort of like men!!!!
