Time for a new front loader...

Door latch…? Is it characteristic of LG door latches to have about 1/4” of play when the door is locked? I just noticed the door moving when laundry was rubbing against the glass during the cycle…

Time for a new front loader...

One Rinse.... The normal cycle on my new LG does one deep rinse. At least it did with the smaller load I put in it. I'll have to try a larger load, or more detergent, to see what it can sense. That one rinse was quite adequate for the "sensitive skin" detergent I use. It really works the rinse...

Wish I thought of that before someone hauled off the old washer from the curb :(

    LG Dryer DLEX4200B

Do these dryers utilize a "touch sensor" in the drum or a humidistat of sorts?

JUST OUT OF THE BOX 2007 Kenmore 800's

Lid Switch Isn't the lid switch on these connected to the hinge arm of the lid?

Time for a new front loader...

Model I got... I bought the WM4000HBA. Matches the old Samsung dryer well enough. Waiting for a good deal to pick up a pedestal for it. Does LG still include "6-motion"? I don't see it in the marketing of some newer machines.

Time for a new front loader...

Bought a new one Thanks for all the insight. One other thing to note: Electrolux still has a two-piece outer tub, if that matters to anyone. I liked the styling of the Electrolux better but passed due to the inaccessible drain filter. I did watch some cycles online and found that the pumps...

Parts... Are LG and Electrolux really that much harder to get parts for than a Maytag? More expensive to buy parts for perhaps?

Need recommendations on front load washer

At the risk of karma coming around… how long do those stainless hoses really last? I’ve had mine for a lot longer than five years.

Time for a new front loader...

I’ve recently had to replace the door latch and drain pump also. Still, 15 years is pretty good for any modern washer. For what it’s worth, my parents have an older “Little Swan” GE front loader that’s still ticking after I’ve replaced the fill valve. Not a bad little machine so far. It’s...

Laundry Appliance Servicemen Of Old - Was It Ever A Good Living?

I was just wondering about this yesterday... My newer machine gave up. It's the marked-up part cost and the added labor that makes service and repair so infeasible. I don't think the repairman makes a decent living anymore. The hourly cost has so much business overhead wrapped in. I try to...

Need recommendations on front load washer

Speaking of Fisher & Paykel, when did they get out of the US market? I really liked the Whirlpool top loaders that used F&P's quiet motors.

Time for a new front loader...

My 2009-model Samsung gave up yesterday. It sounded quite off-balance coming down from the final spin. I turned the tub by hand - its got about an inch of runout and smelled a bit rubbery. It's either the spider, bearings, or the tub somehow went out of round. I'm going to let it go rather than...

    GE Slow Fill

Broken again Sorry to resurrect an old thread... I replaced the fill valve last year and all was well. A year later and I'm back where I started. Things I've checked: -I've got 120 VAC at each solenoid. Each solenoid draws 0.058 amps, which is close enough to the 5 watt rating. -Water...

    GE Slow Fill

Model Number PFWS4600L0WW I'll probably tear into it here soon and see what I find. The unit sat for a long time which is probably why its not filling correctly. I cleaned a LOT of dried crud out of the tub seal area and had to run three cleaning cycles to clear out the musty smell.
