What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My grandmothers coppertone Westinghouse (Westinghouse, sans the "White") front-load washer and dryer. Her washer had the door that swung open to the side, not down. I used to sit in front of it and watch the laundry wash, and Grandma would feed me a snack of toast squares with applesauce on top (which I still love).
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Ill mention only my most interesting appliances... My first washer was a White-Westinghouse front load washer, circa 1986. It made all sorts of strange, questionable noises, but I loved it. Unlike the FLs of today, it had a water lever control. It could handle a honkin huge load and never once complained about what I threw at it. I also had a late-80s GE Filter-Flo which was hands down the most effective machine EVER at removing cat and dog hair. Unfortunately, I played a very active part in its death with my propensity for pushing the speed control buttons during operation. I know: bad, bad me.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
