A dryer vent system should not be even 1 foot longer than necessary if you have 20 feet of tubing but only need 10 cut it immediately and just use 10 feet.
Dryer venting material is easy to clean. You can either brush it out or even take it outside with the garden hose and wash it out once in a while.
Technically you’re not supposed to use more than 8 feet of flexible venting material on a dryer if you need more than 8 feet you should do the entire vent system and rigid aluminum or steel vent pipe.
