That’s a tough question to answer on why some countries drive on the opposite side of the road.

Definitely easier to answer why the US drives on the right side of the road, it’s because that’s the side horse drawn wagons drove on. The rider ended up moving to the left side of the wagon so he could have more control and see what was coming up on or who was passing by.

Believe it or not, very early automobiles had the steering wheel on the right side, but was moved over to the left for better standardization and safety. Been that way since.
