Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Happy to all a day late. We didn't have to shop, cook, or clean up. We ate at a nice Banquet venue with my sister and her in laws.
Glad you had a good dinner!

These days, since most of my family is gone, I don't do Holiday home dinners anymore.
I threw a few get-togethers years ago with friends, but it's such a chore that requires so much work.
So for me, it's "just another day", and I made sausage and pasta yesterday while watching NewsMax and "Mama's Family" on tv.

Yes, Matt, now that my family is gone also, I just heated up the free senior dinner and it being so cold outside, stuck inside with the tv. Why does every network just have to have constant sports on. If someone wants to watch those games, pay that expensive ticket price and go see it. Networks LOVE sports with the constant time outs and hundreds of ads that they make big bucks on. I hate sports on tv and would rather watch regular programs. Even news programs are cancelled as sports are more important money makers for them. I want to know more about a big snowstorm that is supposed to be here the first of next week, but College football is more important to NBC, CBS, CW, ABC and FOX. Next thing ,High School sports will broadcast nationwide.

Tim,
Ya took the words right outta my mouth about the GD sports and ball games preempting everything else on TV! There could be a launch of nuclear missiles towards the USA and the sports programming would still take precedence over the news.

Several years ago Comcast linked TCM to ALL the sports channels because there weren’t enough sports lovers willing to pay for the sports channels. As a consequence TCM that had previously been included in the package we paid for at the time then became an additional $9.99 a month, and this change happened with NO prior notice. All the sudden when we tried to tune into TCM we received a message that we needed to subscribe to it! That really pissed me off to have to pay for dozens of sports channels that we will NEVER watch just so we can still watch TCM. That just ain’t right!

I hear and understand your complaints, Tim.

And it goes along with "Big Corp" politics and the greed associated with them.
People have always been victims of the mass-marketing and the excitement of sports teams.
"Win Win Win!
Competition, comradery, solidarity, all are part of human nature, and are strong influences that corporations rely on for their profiting from.
It's really no different than the centuries-old tradition of those events in some ancient arena - or those bullfights, or rodeos., auto racing, etc etc...
A form of entertainment for the masses just to get together at, spend money on, and even gamble on.
It's like a "Drug" to many.... an addiction, just like other things that have suckered into the masses.

Luckily, I've got about 100 free over-the-air digital channels to choose from.
I maybe ever watch 10 of them, mostly old rerun shows, some nature, comedy, or history channels, cop shows like CSI or Law and Order, along with decent non-biased news like NewsMax.
I'll watch 6ABC just to see the weather reports, and local crime stuff.

And when there's nothing on that interests me, then some music on the stereo to enjoy.

You did explain it in full, Matt. My over the air stations are limited by NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and their sub-stations. I do have a ROKU and Spotify is my only subscription for the best sounding digital music. Plus a ton of free networks ROKU gives you. When Directv upped my bill to over $100 with more shopping channels than regular ones, I made this switch that worked out the best for me.

The imperial is beautiful, along with the beautiful fall foliage
I believe it might be a ā€˜57 Imperial, though the Imperial coupes from 1957 to 1959 in terms of the rear end were quite similar.

Though, the grille texture definitely changed between those years.

And old friend of mine had a black 1962.... now let me catch my breath, the name is L-O-N-G...
Ahem... a 1962 Chysler Imperial Lebaron four-door Southampton. whew!
That car had everything in it!
I heard it was a popular car for Mob Bosses. LOL!

I had my Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel last night. I'd thought about calling my buddy Roy to see if he wanted to go, but knew that if he did, that he would probably want to go no later than 5:00 PM. I knew it would be really crowded at that time, plus I wouldn't really be hungry by then, so I went about 8:00 PM. There were only a few people there, so didn't have to wait. The food was good. I don't like their cornbread dressing very well, but what they had yesterday was different than usual. I think it was mainly regular bread, and was seasoned good. I got pecan pie, but I brought it home, and ate it today.

I sometimes go to my sister's for Thanksgiving, but she is in Texas now. She's house and dog sitting while my youngest nephew and his new wife are honeymooning in Thailand. Other times I've gone to my oldest nephew's nearby, but he and his wife have split up, so couldn't go there. Christmas plans are undecided until my sister returns.

Thanksgiving filled me up, and I just put a small boneless turkey breast in the slow cooker with a box of stuffing and a bag of frozen green beans…

I happen to have three cans of cranberry sauce right now, I was too full to open and eat with our meal we just ate up in one day…

I made the turkey, stuffing and green beans in the slow cooker, so it was all drying up and all the green beans and most of the stuffing was gone so I made rice to finish the turkey with…

We didn’t even have mashed potatoes or yams…. I got a store-bought pumpkin pie, and only had whipped cream on the first piece after it was baked, and finished it cold without…
As opposed to making my own or getting anything else like berry, apple, Dutch Apple, cherry, peach, pecan or sweet potato pie…

So back to cranberry sauce, I bought a jellied and organic whole berry, then another regular whole berry and have my three cans waiting for another turkey day along with two more boxes of stuffing that I also didn’t use…

So tonight with thanksgiving out of the way, I made mashed potatoes along with a huge steak I’m able to leftovers of all that away…

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. This has always been one of my favorite holidays to get together with people for a nice meal.

I always try to reach out and find people who don’t have anything to do for Thanksgiving, I called up one of my neighbors whose father had died this past August, and for the first time she didn’t have any plans. She was nearly in tears when I invited her.

This year I just roasted the turkey made the mashed potatoes and gravy, Todd ask everybody else to bring sides and oh there was a lot of food. The weather was turning colder so I decided to microwave roast the turkey in the Thermidor oven in the kitchen, many years I’ve used the micro gas convection oven out in the outdoor kitchen, which does a fabulous job with a turkey, it was just a 13 pounder so it only took about an hour and 15 minutes to cook and as usual was not only golden brown, but the white meat was just juicy and very good. We ended up with 10 people, it wasn’t too much trouble overall because everyone brought casseroles, desserts, etc. I also baked the blueberry pie last minute, I love getting the real small wild blueberries from Costco. They have so much more flavor I was afraid we wouldn’t have enough desserts the night before so I threw a pie together. It only takes 15 minutes. Start to finish.

A few pictures unfortunately I forgot to do before pictures, but we ran three dishwashers all at the same time. I even brought the dishwasher from the outdoor kitchen in the top loading kitchen aid. If you take the top rack out, you could put all the huge roasting pans, and things in it and get it all done at once, I think cleanup only took about 10 minutes or so yesterday we unloaded all three dishwashers in about 10 minutes.

And the dishwashers full of clean dishes , forgot to do that before shots as usual very impressive. I think I might’ve removed one knife and one spoon that has a speck of food on them because they were so overloaded.

I am missing the leftovers. The only drawback of not having it at home. I ate my $36 worth though at Crystal Gardens in Southgate Michigan. They do a nice job and have fresh carved roast beef, ham, fish, Mac and cheese, Penne with Italian sauce, soup, salads, as well as delicious turkey, traditional sage and cornbread dressing, gravy, corn, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce, pumpkin, apple pies, brownies and cheesecake. Coffee, tea, etc.
We did buy a Butterball turkey breast to have with home made sourdough Crimini mushroom and italian sausage dressing.

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. This has always been one of my favorite holidays to get together with people for a nice meal.
I used to "go all out" ($$$) for Thanksgiving and Christmas and invite over "the crowd".
It was a lot of work, the cooking, the table setting, music, the decorations, and of course the cleanup afterwards.
That was decades ago when I first got the house.

But I pulled away from all that "traditional stuff " because I realized what it was actually about and what it accomplished.
I had a few ignorant guests who insisted on not abiding by my house rules that caused issues and pissed me off....

Is it that impossible to sit at MY dinner table in MY home with guests, and not text or glue your eyeballs to a cellphone that I asked you nicely not to do during dinner?

And the marketing hype every year made the holidays all about sales and spending money, joining the crowds of shoppers like puppets.
Besides, being retired, getting older, I prefer less stress in my life, and focus on my individual needs, not what is "marketed" as what I "should do".

Just finished putting together the turkey soup, one of the fun parts is always putting all the bones down the Hobart national disposer, took three minutes and 4 gallons of water to grind them all up sent them off to waste treatment where they’ll be turned into fertilizer.

Hi Matt and Philly, we sat for almost 4 hours the 10 of us and nobody ever pulled out a cell phone, there was no discussion of sports. Yay, no discussion of politics. Nunn needed everybody here is on the correct side of the fence. It was just a really good discussion about what everybody’s doing and up to couple of people have retired in the last year, etc..

As we get older, it’s really important to stay in touch with people and do things with people I feel

Hope everybody had a great holiday

John L

I hosted 60 for my 70th birthday { I did have a good friend do all the food ]

We have had up to 85 people in this house, For Michaels and my 10th university we did 28 loads of dishes in the DWs that week, it took a week to prepare.

That's the great about having lots of friends that like to help.

For my 60th BD we did a sit down dinner for 22.

My "crowd" dinner parties ususally were 8 to 10 people, and that's enough for my house to handle.
But I don't have a ton of friends..... anymore.
Some of them died, a couple from drugs or booze or (sexual) stupidity.
Besides, it's not how many friends you have, it's the reputation and quality that they have.

I can't imagine 85 people in a house, unless it's a palatial mansion.

My sister likes to entertain large groups. They used to have "wing-dings" several times during summer and fall, and usually had anywhere between 75 and 150 attend. The largest was a HS graduation party for my youngest nephew, which ran for 10 hours, and about 300 came throughout the day and evening. They have a large pole barn with finished concrete floor that they set up tables and chairs. About a third of it is the party house that has a kitchen, where the food is set out buffet style. She fixes most of the food, too. Once I went with her to Gordon Food Service, where she spent over $400 for things for the party. Everyone always has a good time there.
