Presenting the Hoover OPH616 washing machine...

Thanks for the pics and info. I've checked on Which, and your parent's machine scores very well. I quite like the look of the machine; the powder draw design looks like a nod to the Nextras. Can you can open/close the powder draw when the door is open? I can't do that with mine. In regards to...

@nrones: It didn’t do too bad, just the duvet cover and one pillow case was slightly damp in places, an extra 30 minutes sorted it out. It's probably because they got tangled together at some point.

While there is apathy towards Hoover/Candy, that should not put you off starting another thread. I'd like to hear your experiences with your Parents OPH616!!

@superelectronic: I think you are right about it being perhaps a good idea on paper, no one else does a slim line washer dryer (as far as I know) which is perhaps saying something. Unfortunately we simply don't have the space for a separate tumble dryer as our Kitchen is very small and their is...

My main concern is that the door catch may not align properly with the lock and may damage it in the long term; but I suppose the warranty will take care of it if its a issue! We are off to my partners parents for a late Christmas dinner in rural Northumberland and I've left it washing the...

    Ariston Washer Dryer

Unless they brand them Bush or something and they appear in Argos for £199!!

My WD does wash and dry well, I'll give it that but the build quality seems so poor, especially compared to my Parents Hotpoint WT540. It is also excessively rattly when it spins, we tend to leave the kitchen when its spins for fear of it exploding lol. The main reason why we got it was for its...

    Ariston Washer Dryer

Are Antonio Merloni still limping on? Their website is still active and still have brochures for their appliances (the seem geared towards wholesale rather then individual customers) They even claim to have a 33cm deep washing machine - beat that Candy :-p http://www.ardo.it/default.asp?lingua=eng

Some modern Hoover scorn: After 2-3 months of having our Hoover washer dryer it's drum is starting to make a ratcheting noise. It's still useless at balancing as well. …and for some more Candy bashing: I don’t know why Candy just don’t pull their brand from the UK and concentrate on Hoover –...

    Ariston Washer Dryer

Thanks for your reply. I have seen a picture of an Indesit with a similar door some time ago. It also had a Hotpoint drum so it might have been another exclusive; or some sort of parts bin abomination!

    Imbeciles

Still makes me laugh! That's the best thing you can do to a Candy lol. But its still a pretty stupid thing to do though.

    Disk boot failure

I forgot about K Meleon, the only issue I see with that is it's layout engine (Gecko) lags behind Firefox, so it may have extra security issues, but it certainly will be far better then IE6 (or even IE7 and IE8 lol) in terms of page rendering or security. There is also a 3rd Party compatibility...

    Disk boot failure

You are right in saying that you get what you pay for, mine was a LG but I was using it for heavy/red write tasks (I was storing and executing a Java application I was developing - big mistake!). A portable USB hard drive would be better (they are cheaper per Gigabyte wear out as quickly) but...

    Disk boot failure

If you do get a thumbnail drive then I'd recommend that you transfer the files to another machine reasonably quickly, as the memory in those drives wares out much more quickly then a standard Hard Drive, I had a 1GB one that wore out in less then a month, due to heavy usage. If you decide to...
