Yeah, I have noticed that ranges in Canada tend to have taller control panels with the stacked knobs. They also tend to have panel lights and convenience outlets, even though ranges in the US stopped having convenience outlets sometime in the early-mid 70s.

From what I've noticed, it looks like older gas ranges that had electronic ignition had two ignitors, one between each pair of burners, where a pilot flame would be on a pilot lit range. Most modern gas ranges appear to have one ignitor for each burner, and it's placed right next to each. Does...

Hopefully someone else can confirm, but yes if you shut off the screw, the pilots should be off and you can just manually light the burners. It appears to be a good stove, from the era when these were true Hardwick ranges.
