Phone connector is there so you can call to return this thing right away and then get the SQ which will correct most of the dislikes your machine cannot. I don't mean to belabor,but why not a SQ? They are a washer lovers connect to the 'good old machines',do a good job and appear reliable.

Speed Queens have 'auto' rear levelers,an agitator that resembles WP Surgilator,make a decent woo-woo sound at regular wash speed,and--at 5 years old 8/14/17--has kept me and my picky wife happy washer-wise!

But,VACUUMING the sand out your washer blows. Sometimes the sand is hiding from the 'shakeout'.

another pot/pan cleaner I smear ketchup in my pans and let them sit at least 1/2 hour. Then swish around with a paper towel a few seconds,hot water rinse,light soap wash/rinse. Sparkling!

The Amana's agitator cap looks similar to another NO bs washer we had new,a '63 Frigidaire Imperial. I'd trade ALL these new junkers for that one.

'sad'... Washers like this Amana remind me of gov in action. Time consuming,redundant actions,generally poor job performance. Glad my 4 1/2 year old SQ tl & dryer operate MY way--NO f-ing around,good sounds,effective results in 30 minutes flat.

pair of aces! Very nice machines! We had a '63 white Imperial that I didn't appreciate at age 12. I did all the laundry and wanted/finally talked dad into a '67 KM Lady pair. Should've kept the rather awesome GM washer at least as a spare... You REALLY scored on these time machines. Enjoy!

Ah,Sears... We had a '67 Lady Kenmore set in white. Awesome except the RotoFlex supposedly required lowest water level just below top row of tub holes! Very little diff to ''full'' level. Loved the look/sounds of these machines,but am currently very happy with same on my '12 SQ 542 tl pair...

SQ Star... I agree our SQ AWN542 makes woo-woo sounds on normal wash. Very good ''washer'' sounds overall. ''Highway Star'' has several parts that could relate to washers,cars,& cool machinery in general. Had ''Machine Head'' on 8 Track and cassette,the cassette still plays well. GOOD TIMES!

more weird... You want weird (not that I don't appreciate your dream),put a flashlight or 2 in the top loader and dail up 'SPIN'. Pretty ''interesting''. You can use Glow Sticks for a 'Saturn's Rings' effect,but they bust open sometimes. Fun while conscience!
