Maytag DE313: how does auto dry work?

Thank you That video was one of the clearest explanations/demonstrations of the AUTOMATIC cycle. Now I understand what GE's COMPENSATED CONTROL was about.

Beautiful 40" GE Double Oven Range needs help

Thanks Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you.   P.S. Who is "Alco John"?   P.P.S. Is it my imagination or where there offset racks for some of these GE P*7 ovens?

Beautiful 40" GE Double Oven Range needs help

I was lucky enough to find this gorgeous self-cleaning P*7 electric range for my friends Jan and Rick who have been working a 1967 Hotpoint double-oven range to its inevitable death (they were down to one working burner and only the smaller oven functioned for baking, not broiling). I told them...

    Harvest Gold to the rescue!

Check the Rating plate This is most likely a 1973 model. If you check the rating plate on the left side (bottom front) and there should be an "N" at the end of the model number. Looks like it came with a mini-basket.   The big well in the middle of the big filter pan was for a clever powdered...

    1986 GE Filter Flo questions

Noises Is it possible that you're hearing the clicks and clanks of the control timer relays? They are loud and there are two or three of them during the pauses  between agitation and spin. By contrast, the pauses on 'Tags are shorter and the sounds are quiet.

    Fun GE Combo yt Video

WTH? I was looking forward to this post.   Question #1: Why does it spend the first couple of minutes of the wash cycle spinning the dry clothes?

GE Washer/Dryer 1994 (filter flo?) questions

Freshening tip I'd go old school with 1/2 cup Clorox and 1/2 cup baking soda in HOT water with normal speed, keep the lid on, long cycle and ventilate the room. Rinse with warm water and a 1/2 cup of lemon juice or vinegar.   If it still reeks, do it again with Ammonia instead of Clorox.  ...

    GE V12 Parts

Glad somebody got this machine Recirculation Flumes show up from time to time on eBay although they are usually the modular ones made for later FF models. I've often wondered if they could be modified for the older machines. Keep an eye on the list in the Shoppers' Square forum and do searches...

Frigidaire "Horizon 2000" Washer and Matching Dryer

When is a bell/whistle NOT a bell/whistle? IIRC the "SANITIZE" setting on the 1-18's was like the "SOAK" cycles on early Filter-Flo's also positioned within the Normal cycle's rinse period. In other words, bullshit. It was one more "perk" they could claim in the brochures.   With the Frigies...

Low Speed as Relevant to Filter Flo Washers

Reply #9; Good news Thanks John, I'll look at the solenoid.   My understanding is that GE didn't use a 2 speed motor because it would slow down the Filtration system to a dribble and they already had had enough complaints about dribbling in the Solid Tub models from customers who used the...

Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

Yup! Lawrence, they did come out with a 63 model later that year for some strange GE reason. Earlier 63 brochures indeed listed the WD860 W.   Does anybody have any pictures/literature on GE Washer/Dryers for the years 64, 65, 66? I've seen them from 67 on into the 70's but nothing from the...

Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

Wowie kazowee indeed. But 1961??? But it has 1962 black and SS panel color and, as always, Solid Tub chrome control knobs. If it's truly in working order, this is indeed a rare beauty. I recall a lot of my classmates in high school lived with one of these in NYC apartments. By the early...

Low Speed as Relevant to Filter Flo Washers

My speed combo when I have a choice ...has always been SLOW agitation and NORMAL spin speed. I noticed that my Mother's Mother, who had a WA-730X (which was, essentially the same as our WA-750W minus a rinse temperature toggle) always kept the speed button on SLOW.   Filter-Flo machines do an...

which of these 3 DWs would be the best to use

IMO The 1984 Maytag.   But it will be noisier than the Bosch you're used to if that is a consideration.

The More Things Change, The More They Stay the Same

Wasted opportunity I'm almost mad at this person for not indicating what brand they were talking about.   But there are so many people to be mad at right now it seems silly to throw shade at a likely deceased Texan.

    The Brava Oven

RE: Reply #8 Amen.   It's amazing how much pricey stuff I've scored at thrift stores as well. I think lots of people get these lavish gifts as anniversary, housewarming or wedding presents and, depending on their wealth and interests, or lack thereof, they keep them for a little while, decide...
