    Kmart Grand Opening in 1975

Good question. However I'd have to dig the machine out of the closet and deal with removing the bulb housing. Last time I used it was about 10 years ago, and it worked just fine.

    Kmart Grand Opening in 1975

Don't laugh.... I still have my Kodak Carousel slide projector, and an old 1950s Argus too.

    Kmart Grand Opening in 1975

Not in MY house, that's for sure! I don't want my place to look like some tacky Brady Bunch palace! 😄

    19yo Plasma Panel

I have to say that my 2014 Panasonic Viera LED flatscreen has entertained me with it's absolutely flawless picture quality. In fact, 2 friends of mine who purchased similar Panasonic sets have thanked me for suggesting that brand. In my repair shop, that brand was the only one that hardly, if...

New Speed Queen Models Coming Soon!

Sometimes, it's better to keep things simple, than try to out-do other manufacturers, with their extreme designs. I think the peak era around the 1970's/80s was when they had designs polished and reliable. - and honestly worth the price. Look at today's typical offerings - loaded with fancy...

New Speed Queen Models Coming Soon!

Soon after I moved into this house, I disabled the lid switch on the Maytag washer. I don't have little kids running around here to worry about.

    19yo Plasma Panel

Those Sanyo tv's were sold through Radio Shack back in the day. Lower quality than other brands.

Some blame is on those college kids too. Getting a job at a major appliance company, and giving the CEO's, design experts, this "new" sexy technology. They've been pre-trained by tapping on their cell phones, so why not bring that neatness to a washing machine? Yuck. God forbid they have to...

New Speed Queen Models Coming Soon!

Lid switches were originally added when consumers who had curious children harmed by putting their hands in a machine while running. While this initially solved the problem. some liberal-minded goon decided to take it one step further, and make it lock the lid to insure the machine came to a...

New Speed Queen Models Coming Soon!

Well, after reading many customer complaints on the SQ website, I get a different view now on that brand. **Numerous complaints of "burrs" in the tubs, tearing clothes. **Lid locks failing to unlock. **delays in getting repairs done. Among other issues. And this is from the TOL model, with all...

I used to appreciate Speed Queen's designs, particularly their mention of having an all-metal gear transmission for ruggedness and durability. I also was impressed by their use in commercial laundromats, where breakdowns would cost the owners time and money. - so they were made to handle abuse...

    Pizza Night

I'm no good at making home made piza, or even cakes. So, I order out from a famous pizza place nearby called "Geno's. They make totally awesome pizza, always perfectly prepared, delivered, and hot. Their pizza steaks and onion rings are out of this world, no skimping on anything. And the prices...

    19yo Plasma Panel

You guys can enjoy your PLASMA televisions all you want. Not me, I never cared for them, and I repaired many in the shop over the years. Why, you might ask? Because they suck up a lot of electricity when on.... between 300 to about 500 watts! - for all that heat that they generate. Now compare...

    The Home Entertainment Industry

The subwoofer that I was discussing is a smaller one that's only used for when I'm watching TV. It kicks on whenever there's TV audio, because as much as I love the Panasonic Viera flatscreen, it's small internal speakers lack deeper bass. As for the Technics audio system, it feeds my Advent...

    The Home Entertainment Industry

Products such as home entertainment devices these days all have standby power supplies, due to the fact that they are remote controlled, and require that standby voltage for that. Some draw a mere 0.1 watt in standby, others maybe draw 2 to4 watts. So if you add up all those standby wattages in...
