    The Home Entertainment Industry

My Technics system is all Technics. The receiver has an off-standby power switch. Left in standby, it can be turned on with the remote. - it only uses maybe a watt in standby. The other components are the CD player, Dual Cassette, Turntable, SRS sound enhancer, and an Akai reel to reel deck. I...

    Number PULEAZE! Part Eight:

Well, ya know, lightning carries millions of volts when it hits the earth. Whenever there's a severe thunderstorm/lightning here, just for safety sake, I unplug anything expensive that might be damaged. The tv sets... The computer I'm typing on now... My stereo systems... etc... Of course I'm...

KitchenAid KDFE204KPS: The good, the bad, the ugly

You're up early, Mike! If rusting was such an issue, why not use a grille/vent made of aluminum, or some high-temp plastic? Hasn't common sense been a part of design & research these days?

    Number PULEAZE! Part Eight:

Ya know, my neighbor Diane once told me that she never used her phone during a thunderstorm. She said the same thing that you mentioned - even though she had a cordless phone. I told her that was nonsense, likely born from the misinformation so common on the internet.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Sanyo made decent stuff for sure, but Panasonic seemed to go to extra lengths to insure reliability, quality, and must have had strict quality control, along with their design and research department. Being a servicer for so many years, I've been able to compare different brands, and...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

I may have posted this picture before, it's my 1980 Panasonic Platinum Series RX-5600. It's got plenty of kick as well, and the cassette deck has some nice features too. It even has a set of input jacks for a magnetic cartridge turntable!

Thanks Tom, Since then, sadly, Patsy's husband Charlie passed away, I think around 2015, not sure of the year. Julie is still managing Patsy's legacy with a museum in Nashville from what I heard. Just south of Winchester, at the Shenandoah Memorial Cemetary, fans still go to pay their respects...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Yes, that became a mild fad back then, designed for that "check this out!" crowd Not just boomboxes, but home turntables as well. I always thought that was dumb though.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Yep. a pair of 8" woofers. For a portable with batteries, the thing weighed a ton!

Yes, thanks I know that. I was saying that it was what the MK8's display was showing me. How accurate it is at stop n go driving I dunno. But the highway ride of 28mpg was pretty much the same as the gas I spent for the trip.

    Window Air Conditioner Advice/Suggestions

Good deal! I'm glad you have a handle on the issue. I've had to do the same thing on my window units too.

LOL! Titanic! I indeed agree with you there! Simple is to my liking too.

Now THAT machine's got a turnover like my Maytag! I just loaded sheets, towels, socks, undies, etc. large load water, and no problems.

Ah, that MKZ, now I remember! As to those MK's, I agree about the ride AND handling of them. And that curved dash is also sweet, reminiscent and possibly borrowed from the 1962/63 Thunderbirds. - my favorite vintage Fords! I do like that small LCD screen in the middle which gives you oil change...

I checked out a 2006/2007 Lincoln, I forget the model.... It was supposed to take the place of the Mk VIII. But the interior was so bland and cheap crappy looking.

The 1996 model was apparently the Anniversary model. Two years later, 1998 was the last of them.

Yeah, sort of, it's the 1996 model, fully loaded, even a corded console phone. But it's missing the LSC badge for some reason. It's also got the JVC Premium Sound system - cassette radio, and a Sony 10 disk CD player in the trunk. I added a 300W dual sub in the trunk up against the back seat -...

The one cool thing about my Lincoln Mk VIII is that air suspension system. When you hit about 60mph, the air pressure was partially vented, causing the car to lower about 2 inches - closer to the road. Then when you slowed down, like on an off-ramp or making a stop, the compressor would pump the...

Thanks, yeah, that 8-6-4 crap made me suspicious. I'm not surprised that it had issues.
