Bendix LT Washer-dryer (1962) still in daily use

My Bendix Combo I had an earlier ('59 I think) Philco Bendix with a gas drying section. I used it every week, then the 1/3hp motor burned out. It turns out that the 1/2hp motor for the coin-op "double load" fits, and gets it up to spin speeds quicker. When I moved from San Diego, I gave it to a...

    1975 A806 Won't Agitate

Glad it is working well! I would throw in with Combo52. A new transmission and agitator would go right in. I attended a Maytag service seminar in the 90s, and they demonstrated how to put one in an older machine. I know that it is not origional, but it sure saves a lot of work. However, there is...

    Update

Detective work Usualy you can see staining from a leaking seal or hose. Often you can't see any stain where the pump is leaking. I have replace a lot of them on direct drive machines.

    centerpost bearing puller

Bearings I bought a puller and installer fairly early on in my business, but I knew repairmen who would use an old spin shaft to pound out the bushings, and the right size pipe to pound in the new ones. I decided that the right tools were better than the caveman approach. I would use a wire...

    1977-78 Kenmore set

Paint Your washer and dryer look great! It reminded me of back when I was in the business. I used "Zynolite Epoxy" Avocado paint and it was a perfect match. It was an oil based enamel, not a 2 part epoxy. It thins well with Naptha, which helps it dry quickly. I had a Binks gun and a true 1...

    Frigidaire Bellows Pliers

Thanks everyone Thanks Kevin. I used the money to put gas in my car, and buy my brother a movie for Christmas. Just thought of this: When I lived in Yuma Arizona, I stopped by a business called M&M Appliance (Repair). The guy behind the counter said that they had a box of Frigidaire bellows! Go...

    Frigidaire Bellows Pliers

Sold them! Sold them a few hours after I posted. I will continue posting particularly pictures as I find classic machines.

    Frigidaire Bellows Pliers

I came across my Frigidaire bellows pliers the other day. I have fibromyalgia, and I won't be repairing or restoring washers again. Too much pain and fatigue! I have the large water bellows pliers, and the small oil bellows pliers. I also have a tub wrench that may or may not be for a...

    Dole Burner Help

cleaning pilot holes I had a pin vise and a number drill set (came across it the other day), and I used these tiny drills to clean out pilot holes, mostly in stoves but also in dryers. I would use a drill that was obviously too small, then step up in size until I hit shiny metal. Classic stoves...

    Norge Burpilator

More Burps gansky1 was right on the money with the brands. I looked for these washers in my business. This machine had several brand names. Western Auto, Firestone, Pencrest(?). They were HUGE and people liked them. The outer tub was thin and often rusted out. I would fill the holes with JB...
