What Was the first vintage washer you remember seeing or started up as a child

First vintage washer I remember seeing was gram and grampas late 1970's 70 series washer. I would love to help grandma do the wash! I think it had three knobs. One on the left was water level, 5 settings? 4 wash cycle or maybe 5. I do know that it had a hot-warm temp setting. The washer also...

OK I see I did not know that whirlpool made dd before 1985. The first run was on the smaller washers?

The YouCrate comes with Freezing Rain!

Yes that is normal for the early run dd washer. I think it was not until 1987 that they changed to a neutral drain.

    Roper 1991 W/D

The washer ax6245v is very like the 88 whirlpool my mom and dad had. I would bet that the washer we had was just like the 1991 roper.

    Old Washers/Dryers

Wow lots of new members, I also just found this site. I always loved watching the washer and dryers for as long as I can remeber. My first favorite was the Kenmore belt drive my grandmother had. GE Washer Clutch

Thanks guys COLDSPOT66 - No, you have not confused me at all, I understood it all (seriously) Thanks to both of you for a speedy, and concise reply. It seems like the design makes a lot more sense than the Kenmore BD, Westinghouse, and Fridge designs (in terms of pumping "losses" on the...

    GE Washer Clutch

Hey Guys, I've been wondering lately, what's the use of the clutch on the Filter Flo's? I notice that also on the Versatronic's they had a "Varriable Speed Clutch", and other GE's had a one, two, three, or four speed clutch. Why couldn't GE just have a direct connection from the motor (and slow...

    "Picture of the Day" Question

While looking at the photo of the day, I realized the McClary doesn't look GE at all, and the tub looks like it is from a Norge. I am pretty sure, thought I could be wrong, McClary was owned by GE? What's the history on them anyway?
