    Norge wringe washer in action

Norge wringer Hello Bruce, Maybe I do not have the true brup-a-lator agitator, but my agitator does not have holes in the fins, just in the skirt.  I wonder if the agitator with the holes in the fins is interchangeable?

Bendix Economat staying in Rhode Island

Great olfactory memories <span style="font-size: 10pt;">First thank you for the details on just how the washing machine actually worked.  I was always amazed me how the clothes ended up against the agitator and not up against the tub like a traditional washer.  My Aunt always reminded me to...

Bendix Economat staying in Rhode Island

Bendix Economat Congratulations Ron.  My Dad's sister had one of these.  I was totally fascinated by this machine.  I had never seen a machine that did not spin in some way or the other.  The sound it made when washing, the smell of Goodyear rubber and Tide bring back such wonderful memories. ...

Can you tell ?? what kind of vintage washer someone has by looking at their clothes?

Can you tell??? Oh Paul my man, you are not alone.  Just in my neighborhood on my street, I knew every kind of washer owned by every household.  And the detergent they used.  On Saturday mornings I was like a stalker going from one utility room to the other.  The ladies all knew me and indulged...

    Wringer Care

Wringer Care I do not have any information to back this up, but I treat my wringers just like my grandmother did.  When she was done with the wash she released the tension bar and rinsed the rollers with a bucket of water.  I have several wringer washing machines and have only replaced one set...

Most common brand of vintage washing machines

In Huntsville, AL I grew up in the 60's.  My neighborhood was fairly middle class but no predominate washing machine brand.  There were two unimatics, one Westinghouse FL, 2 Maytags, 1 Easy TL and a Philco-Bendix combo.  My mother and a neighbor had the only Kenmores.  My mothers first Kenmore...
