    North Canton Friday Finds...

Canister Sleds I don't know why, but I have suddenly become interested in the XXX. I tend to like vacuums from the 60's 70's era since that's when I grew up, but now I just think those sleds type vacuums are neat. I just wonder how well they actually worked compared to wheeled cleaners. I do...

    A GE Like None Other

Thanks Those are great videos. Thanks for taking the time to share them. I never knew how "high-tech" GE machines were in 1947. Way far ahead of their time. That machine is much better than any you could buy today. Tim

Electrolux Floor Cleaner I know you have all seen the Electrolux 3 brush floor cleaners. I don't really know the model numbers for them. Anyway, I ran into a guy this weekend that owns a little appliance repair business. He said he took one of these, still in the box, as trade for his services...

    North Canton Friday Finds...

Nice finds...... Love all the Hoovers you have found. I noticed the Lux XXX, and started wondering. It seems that most canisters of its era didn't have wheels. What was the advantage of the metal sled like runners? It seems that if Lux could have made an all metal canister to the high standards...

    Frigidaire Front Load Washer

I was in my Lowe's store last night. They had a Frigidaire front loader on the clearance aisle for $275. It is brand new. It's the smaller version and they do not have a dryer to match. Does anyone know if these are prone to problems? Maybe that's why it is on sale. They also had a Fisher and...

Man oh man What a beauty that AeroDyne is! I didn't know that Hoover was using that type of hose even back that far. They were ahead of their time. Seems like all other vacuums of that era had cloth covered hoses. Fred, do you use the vacuum, or is it just for display? Tim

    Sani-Claus came early this year...

Please tell us Ok Jason. Tell us how it works. Everyone of us vac guys in here want one. Is it a 12 amp screamer, or is it fairly quiet? Give us some pics of you using it. We'd all love to see that. Congratulations on being one of the first owners of a Hoover icon. Tim

another story My wife and I found a Hamilton Beach hand mixer from the seventies at a Flea Market a while back. Her mixer wasn't working, so she thought she would get this one to use. I bought her a new Kitchen Aid and put the Flea Market find in a safe place. Just couldn't stand to open it. Tim

Tell us your best new/unopened vintage find.

I was talking with a man who bought the inventory of a closed Otasco store back in the early 1990s.(Otasco was a chain store in the south of like Western Auto.)He found a unopened Hoover Dial-A-Matic and a brand new, never sold, vintage White Westinghouse Washer/Dryer set. I was just wondering...

    GE/Lux Question

And the attachments..................... I know the power nozzle wasn't originally gold, but the one that we got with it was brown. So, I painted it gold. It doesn't look so good, but works great. The Flip-over tool has a gleaner that turns when I push it. It looks original (not broken or...

    GE/Lux Question

Well, here it is............... I have decided to continue to use my Lux Super J. I would love to have the power unit itself restored to like new condition, but I don't think I can do it myself. I am working on cleaning and restoring the attachments and hose. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Tim

Coming Soon - A Brand New Web Site for the VCCC!!

That would be great! Another idea would be to have a section that has old vacuum advertising such as magazine ads, radio spots, and vintage TV commercials. They may be hard to find, but I'm sure there are some out there. Tim

    GE/Lux Question

Sure, Bill I enjoy discussing vacs with people who know more than I. So many people in here are knowledgeable when it comes to vacs. But even I can tell you that the Model G Lux you got is a jewel. That was probably the quietest running vacuum ever made. They have great suction and do a nice job...

    GE/Lux Question

Well whataya know? Twin Toggles! And the one on the right seems to be hanging a little lower! Only you Toggle, could come up with something like that Hey Joe. Thanks for the pics of the GEs. That green one with the cord rewind is just like the one we had at the clothing store I worked at in...

    what one brand and type?

0000000000, not me........ I can't stand that "fruity" sweet smell on my clothes. I like simple scents like A LITTLE bit of Downy April Fresh or Bounce regular scent. Tim

    what one brand and type?

My choice would be Regular Tide, original scent. What's the difference between today's Tide and the 1960's Tide? I grew up in the 1970's and my mom used Tide and Gain. I remember the scent of Tide smelling like today's. Is it different. I can tell a difference in Gain, though. Tim

Help me buy a good but inexpensive vacuum

That fan-first Eureka would be great. Our Sam's club has those much cheaper than the Best Buy price. If you have one nearby check. I think they are only like $140 here in GA. I happen to like the Panasonic upright style better though. You can get those pretty cheap too on e-bay. Just make sure...
