"Studies in the LGeeee" aka, WILD TURBO PIX

I just wanted to add, since I can't edit, that Cotton/Normal will NEVER use the internal water heater. No mixture of settings I have ever tried results in Cotton/Normal activating it. Rank insubordination, when you want Hot you want at *least* 104F, but Hot Cotton/Normal means quite often a...

"Studies in the LGeeee" aka, WILD TURBO PIX

I really love my LG WM3470, it has the recirculating jets and atomizer, just as yours does. I believe the feature might -- in the long-term -- become more common, as it seems like a great way to reduce water use and making the Department of Energy happy seems awfully important to these...

    LG FL Needs more water

To the poster with the LG WM2250, just turn it with enough force and the screw will turn despite the modest application of glue. I've verified that it has the intended effect. I found two full 360 degree turns (that's 4 half turns) added a lot more water, way more than necessary, to the point...

Is Tide Original Scent less aromatic than it used to be?

Of course, I'm not including Free versions in my comparison. Of course by definition, they'd have very little aroma of any kind.

Is Tide Original Scent less aromatic than it used to be?

Well, maybe the need to super-concentrate it means there's less room for scent? Anyway yes I'm serious. Ultra Tide HE Original Scent powder that I buy from Costco seems relatively gently scented compared to other P&G detergents.

Is Tide Original Scent less aromatic than it used to be?

Thank you for your feedback. Of the more strongly-scented P&G products, I'd say Gain is a close runner-up to Tide Original Scent, aromatically-speaking. Though it is quite strong, it's not offensive, at least to me anyway. I just like Tide better since it's a superior detergent with better...

Is Tide Original Scent less aromatic than it used to be?

Just in case Proctor & Gamble read these comments, let me add, that I suspect if they tried to strengthen it, they'd somehow ruin it, like they apparently did with the April Fresh scent a couple years ago (I hear). Best to leave well enough alone, and count our blessings on this, lest they mess...

Is Tide Original Scent less aromatic than it used to be?

Seems to me the scent of Ultra Tide HE Original Scent is pretty subtle/weak compared to just about every other detergent I've tried (pretty much everything else Proctor & Gamble makes, I've tried). Has anyone else noticed the same thing? I haven't been doing my own laundry long, just a few...

    LG FL Needs more water

Does the Permanent Press cycle use more water than Cotton/Normal? I think mine uses a little bit more water but I don't have enough data to be certain of my observations. It seems to use the same tumbling motion as Cotton/Normal, but with a couple more seconds pause between each ~5 second...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

I found it, thank you for the information. You're quite right, it is not too helpful here. Also found the service manual for the WM3470, but I fear these service manuals we've been looking at are for the simple repairman, and it's nothing like a technical manual w/ highly detailed...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

Thank you Alex! I would love to have access to that service manual for the WM8000, as I suspect my 3470 is similar to it in many respects. Can you hook me up? Even better would be the WM3470 service manual, but I think you would have referenced that one, if you'd had it.

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

Hi Darren, Thank you for your sharing your experience. The recirculating jets are a fantastic concept, no doubt about it. However, I don't understand how recirculating soapy water provides an appropriate level of rinsing within one rinse, using one fill of water.

A Trick to Add More Water to Front Loaders???

Actually, I'm not sure if this would work with my clothes washer, the LG WM3470, since it does seem to add water sometimes after the wash cycle has started, but close to the beginning still. In these circumstances, it probably is detecting that the water level has fallen, presumably due to...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

I believe it's only draining out the rest of the wash water, and at the highest spin speed the water just ends up flying every which way, especially that water that exits the drum at the top, and which gets spread out quite flat by the massive centrifugal forces, and has no other way to go...

A Trick to Add More Water to Front Loaders???

    I believe the approach works.

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

To clarify even further, there are only two drain cycles. One after the wash, and one after the rinse.

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

Thank you for your thoughts, nmassman44. The machine empties the wash water, spins, and then as it's filling up with rinse water, it does spray it over the clothes all throughout. That's all part of one rinse, though -- one fill of water. If you listen closely to the sound you can tell when...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

I've uploaded a video to youtube of the default Cotton/N I've uploaded a video of the default Cotton/Normal cycle, and I'm saddened to report that it looks like one rinse indeed. More experiments/videos will follow as time/inclination permits.

Kenmore Ultra Wash not washing well...

Aside on laundry pre-wash In similar manner, I do a short prewash before I wash whites in my clothes washer. Prewash (the settable option, that is) in most modern clothes washing machines is cold fill, I believe, and it certainly is in mine. When in doubt as to the nature of some soiling, I...

Kenmore Ultra Wash not washing well...

I've never seen a hot water heater/tank in the U.S. that allows temperatures up to 165F. Quite likely yours is much lower. Keep in mind just going up to 130F will feel a lot hoter than 120F, because the scalding time is much lower. See the URL that contains time-to-scald info. You're probably...
