Is anyone aware of an affordable water-use meter that I could use to see how much water is used? Either 3/4" garden hose thread or 1/2" NPT preferably.

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

I haven't yet had the time to test all possible combination of settings; when I have acquired a critical mass of information, I'll certainly share it. My plan is to borrow a friend's digital video camera and start recording the activities of each cycle, with and without various options, but only...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

I specifically looked for the use of the high-powered rinse jet, and didn't see it kick into action. I stand by my observation that there appeared to me to be only one rinse. Nothing that even remotely approaches the definition of "rinse" occurred more than once. I washed some dress slacks...

New LG front load washer: just one rinse?

The other day I had some time to spare, so decided I'd run a Cotton/Normal 100% default cycle on my LG WM3470 washer/dryer. Somehow, I can't remember how exactly, I had the impression that it would do two rinses. Let me define rinse, as far as I've intuitively defined it all my life: drain...

Hi folks, What's the minimum efficacious rinse temperature? Have there been any objective tests done that might shed some light on my question? Add insulation to new front loader to assist internal water heater?

I have plenty of John Mansville-brand ComfortTherm. Soft white stuff with an R-value between 11 and 13, 3.5" or so thickness -- I believe it can be squeezed down to size in a few of the tighter places that might require it. Another option that's totally inflexible is some 1.5" polystyrene pink...

Add insulation to new front loader to assist internal water heater?

The vibration problem . . . I think that's the most difficult part of all of this. If I don't do it correctly, the possibilities for damage are significant. Imagine a piece of insulation flying semi-loose but still adhered on one side, potentially rubbing against a hose somewhere, sawing through...

Add insulation to new front loader to assist internal water heater?

Hi folks, I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to add some insulation to the interior of the LG WM3470 I picked up a few weeks ago. I live in the Seattle area and my laundry room's in a cool room -- I notice that during hot cycles, such as Allergiene, a great deal of heat dissipates through...

Any readily-available front loaders that use their internal heaters?

LG WM3470 So Bright Whites cycle and Towels cycle, these use the internal water heater at least when the wash temperature is set to Hot. The default Towels cycle temperature is Warm, which I haven't yet tried.

Any readily-available front loaders that use their internal heaters?

I can confirm that my new LG WM3470 uses the internal water heater in the Bright Whites cycle, at least when TurboWash is enabled. It probably uses it without enabling TurboWash, but I haven't tried all possibilities yet. The target temperature of Bright Whites appears to be around 105F, as the...

Any readily-available front loaders that use their internal heaters?

Hi Jerrod, All new washing machines use Automatic Temperature Control to achieve a temperature that falls within the range desired Hot, Warm, and Cold. Reducing the flow of cold water vs. hot water will just increase the amount of time the washer sips out of the cold water inlet.

Any readily-available front loaders that use their internal heaters?

Hi folks, I'm looking for an affordable, i.e., preferably less than $1,000, front loading clothes washer that uses its internal heater for more than just a sanitary cycle. Something that heats up to 120-130 Fahrenheit would be sufficient for my uses. I live in the U.S., so it should be 120...
