    Time For a New Furnace

Chet, I would keep it if it is safe to use and save the expense of a new furnace until it is shot. It will take years to recoup the energy savings over the up front cost of a new one.

    Time For a New Furnace

Ok Willem I understand. The variable speed blower wouldn't compensate?

    WT Grant/Bradford appliance sourcing

Britmann electric in Chicago made Kenmore vacuum cleaners like the Kencart thank style and early uprights until the Whirlpool canisters. Uprights were by Ryobi and Singer later until the Panasonic type. Maybe Panasonic bought that concern.

    Time For a New Furnace

Chet, have you had your current furnace heat exchange inspected?? Is the rust from that?

    Time For a New Furnace

We are talking about gas fired forced air heating here, not gravity air nor oil, or hot water baseboard heat. Climate being a factor for running time, and the colder weather states require better windows, attic and wall insulation. I have seen many furnace replacements and never different...

    Time For a New Furnace

Chet, our Lenox has the Fasco motor. I would try and buy one that has them. Mexico parts I think are better than China. In the late 90's to 2000's, my cousin the hvac guy told me Fasco motors from Mexico weren't the best, but times have changed. I have no idea what Lenox or other brands are...

    Time For a New Furnace

There are two manufacturers today for every furnace brand. Lenox, and the Carrier concern. Judging by our 2008 Lenox 95% plus 2 stage variable speed furnace, I say the inducer fan motor, etc, is better quality than the others. Only a minor chirp from it so fat and a drop of light oil on the...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Re strong people; Yes Matt, fighting for and keeping freedom takes courage. Much like we did to get our equality for legal marriage in 2015. So we will fight yet again to keep it! That sir, is indeed a two way street! Since the Stonewall incident in 1969, Harvey Milks murder, etc! Those balanced...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

My aunt had a grey Compact by Interstate. Another aunt had a turquoise Revelation with the air driven floor polisher. Hoover made quality machines back in the day too. The Celebrity canisters with the Quadraflex carpet nozzles, and the last 2 stage fan Dimension 1000. The Dial-a-Matics and...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

I have a few antique vacuums. My grandmother's Electrolux 30 from around 1950, and my mom's 1980 Eureka model 1279 power team in Brandywine and the top of the line 1289 push button two speed canned ham shaped in the same color. Both still run perfect. The motors must be ball bearing and are...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

We considered a Miele or a Sebo when our 30 year old Hoover Central VAC died last spring. A replacement relay couldn't be fitted to it. I replaced the motor two years ago for $110. Bags and filters for the Miele and Sebo are expensive and they still need periodic cleaning and maintenance. We got...

Why do people want everything WiFi 👿? It's stupid. Why are all dishwashers in Europe and down under built with complete cabinets?

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

Spent an hour with my sister yesterday on the phone helping her choose a combo unit. It was between the LG, Samsung and GE Profile. She's getting the GE. Reviews are good. Load time is 2.5 hrs. It's going in a spare bedroom adjoining the bathroom plumbing. She doesn't want to have to vent it...

    LG Dishwasher

52 decibels is just quiet enough to still hear that it's washing. I don't like if I can't hear it at all. Our neighbors got a new GE two years ago when they remodeled and hate it. It's not a low end model but not a Profile. Thinner racks, and now leaving spots on dishes and glassware.

My dad was a service tech and used to recommend a quarter cup of vegetable oil in the dishwasher occasionally to help keep the pump and seals lubed.

The History of the Introduction of the Automatics thru Newspapers

Golf clubs, don't forget golf clubs! Because who was the one with the wallet? Nice to match a face to the Maytag name. Apex too. I often research the old addresses of former companies. Very few are still standing or have been converted to storage and other businesses. Like the Greyhound depot...

    Whirlpool Presents: "Keep Your Cool....Line" - 1970 16mm

Sears was servicing what they sold since at least 1962. They must have had an agreement with Whirlpool for laundry products under warranty for reimbursement as the manufacturer.
