That's really great to know.  Thank you, Alex.  I had been wondering about this ever since getting my G550.   Mark

    GE dishwasher lies...

Chetlaham and Jerome: a really good idea is for you guys to swap numbers and chat together on WhatsApp.  It will be an excellent way for you two like-minded guys to have these discussions directly with one another and I think you'll really enjoy each other's company and friendship.

    any fave DW salt?

Mike, do you remember the model number of your Miele dishwasher?  My vintage Miele G550 from 1975 auto senses the hardness.  I have so far never seen any other dishwasher that has auto hardness sensing.     Interestingly, the current models on the UK Miele website and the Miele Spain website...

My Rubber Molding Skills Saves My 1953 Apex Wash-a-Matic!

Wow that's great news.  Isn't it amazing how the failure and unavailability of one single, tiny (but vital) component can be the death of an appliance.  But not in this case!  Well done for making the part and keeping the machine alive.

    any fave DW salt?

If you really want a more bougie dishwashing experience, get yourself a box of 100% pure pink Himalayan salt crystals.  They would also work perfectly, if a little extravagant.

    any fave DW salt?

I've certainly seen dishwasher manuals that say you can use softener salt pellets or salt crystals.  You could even go all out and get yourself a massive 40 lb bag of Morton Pure and Natural water softener salt crystals or pellets!  Or just pick up a box of Morton Coarse Kosher salt at any...

    1970s WP Imperial 80. Three-speed dryer.

$100 in Visalia, California.   Click here for MarketPlace Listing   I originally posted this in the Imperial forum by mistake.  Oops!  I see now that I could have corrected that without deleting the post.

Brendan, what is your water hardness in GPG?  You should program the dishwasher with your hardness level so that it regenerates the softener after an appropriate amount of water has passed through it.  Depending on the hardness level you set, you would probably find that the 2 kg box of Finish...

When did Whirlpool start go to bad?

Again?! Is there going to be a separate thread for when each manufacturer "went bad"?!

Betty Furness Introduces Frigidaire's Very First Automatic Washer with a Full Cycle Video!

Sudscake Galore! There's nothing quite like watching "twenty-nine and one-half minutes" of Live-Water Action to brighten up your Sunday evening 🤩.  Love it!     This has to take the prize for being the best washer explanation and demonstration video I've seen on YouTube.     I enjoy the...

    1974 Lady Kenmore Selective Dialing

I'm delighted to have them, Todd!  Next time you're planning a trip to SoCal, let me know.  It will be great to see you and we can have a mini wash-in with all your trip's laundry!

    1974 Lady Kenmore Selective Dialing

If you check out my video, you’ll see that I poured bleach into the bleach dispenser, which is flushed 4 minutes before the end of the main wash.

    1974 Lady Kenmore Selective Dialing

Thank you, Chet!  The prewash/sani rinse does a warm prewash for 4 minutes, drains and spins, then proceeds into the normal cycle.  I'm not sure why they also added the name "sani rinse" to this prewash button but I seem to remember something about it being used to clean out the machine after...

    1974 Lady Kenmore Selective Dialing

His Chet.  Todd was kind enough to give me this exact 2-speed 1974 LK washer.   The Custom Care button reduces agitation speed from normal to gentle but leaves spin speed unaltered.     When you turn the timer knob (when in the off position, i.e. pulled out) it will stop at the cycle that...

Whirlpool Mark 100 dishwasher (1970s, TOL)

That's great news, Alan.  Saturday will be an exciting day for you!  With the Mark 100 next to your dining table, you'd be able to carve and keep your food warm and then load up right there and then at the table and wheel it to the kitchen!  That would certainly be a talking point when hosting a...

    FS Dispenser

Thanks, Ben.  In that case, Downy Ball to the rescue then.  Or, even better, stand there watching and enjoying the action and then add your softener manually!   Apart from YouTube videos, I'm yet to see a 1-18 in operation.  Hopefully I'll get the chance to use one some day!  Fun and unique...

"New and improved" cascade platinum and platinum plus.

Something like a heaped teaspoon, Bob.  I've only ever tested this in softened water.  I know you have hard water, so that may possibly change things.

Another point to make: adding STPP to any detergent will remove those iridescent stains from the pans.

"New and improved" cascade platinum and platinum plus.

The Platinum Pacs are very sudsy, especially when the water is cooler and/or not a lot of food soil is present.  However I have found that Platinum Pacs perform extremely well despite the suds causing cavitation and slowing down the spray in some machines.  They're one of the best detergents out...
