    Trading Stamps

We had S&H Stamps around here, several stores participated.  Don't remember them being given automatically, the cashier usually asked if we wanted them.   I've found a few catalogs from S&H over the years, one of the POD with late 50's Westinghouse appliances was from one of these.    ...

    Digital Speed Queens

A few TRs have shown up for sale around here as well.  One was on a farm in Iowa, I can't even imagine the never-ending washday disasters they must have endured.

From the West Coast to the Midwest - a Bendix restoration

A hat-tip to your fine work, Ben.  This looks like a new machine underneath and the control panel cover restoration is outstanding.

    Sears Best Kenmore dishwasher

I took these pics in 2015 at John's, note the double element.

    Sears Best Kenmore dishwasher

Genuine FOMOCO     This was at an estate sale down the block from us.  Banished to a corner of the basement workshop, missing lower rack.  This ghastly upper rack design has to earn at least a dishonorable mention in the D&M lineage.     Have had several through the years, still have a 74...

    POD

The Power Shower sprayer is hidden by the plates in the rack, the water feed for the P/S spray meets the lid at the front of the machine, just to the left of the latch opening on the tank wall.  The ad copy mentions the 3rd level, lower end models didn't have the plumbing for it although I...

Kirby vacuums now selling at Costco

I have a Kirby Diamond G series, one of my favorite Kirbys as it has two speeds.  We have mostly wood on the main level, room-sized rug in living room and smaller rugs in other rooms.  The low speed on the Kirby is one of the best features for odd jobs like these.  Although the dog doesn't...

    Clean FF

Have seen a handful of these BOL GE/Hotpoint washers around.  Just as John said, it was only a few dollars more (literally) to get the next model up with 3 temp/3 water level selections and at least the pretense of a PP or delicate cycle on the dial.     Mom's first GE FF was a 3/3 low...

New Old Stock Montgomery Ward Dishwasher Sandusky, OH $30

Years ago, I pulled one like this from a friend's rental property, complaints of not cleaning and leaks.  The ridge of the tank that the lower rack rides on was riddled with rust holes.  A BOL plastic-tub Hotpoint was a welcome sight for the tenant.

Heads Up! Maytag Porta-Washer In MN

Expectation VS Reality   "We've been feeding the goats out of it and then discovered it's worth some money, so we hosed it off."

What washing machine would you want to get from a foreign country?

"TOL Maytag version of Wilkins-Servis"   An 806/906 with a Stainless-Steel basket and that pretty white agitator?  Sign me up, too.

    Kitchenaid KDS-18E

That sounds great - good work.  Does everything else seem to function properly now?  What a beautiful machine.

    Coppertone 1967/68 Kenmore electric dryer

I saw this set, in Coppertone, at an estate sale many years ago.  That was a time when machines & sets like these were not infrequently stumbled upon.  I admired them, they are cool, and filed them away in memory.  Now, however, I'd smack down the money and run fetch the dolly.

    Westinghouse Portable DW

I had this exact machine - found at a thrift store in 1991 or so.  It was missing the black cycle indicator ring on the control knob, but I marked a notch for "off" at the end of the dry period and just turned the knob slightly to start the machine.  It cleaned beautifully and I used it for a...

    My first Wash-IN

What a fun collection you have, a little taste of all the "majors".     Thanks for sharing the sights and enjoyment with us, brings back memories of my first visit to Robert's 20+ years ago.

    Wanted: early '70s Hotpoint dishwasher!

We've seen a few of these come up over the years from this same era - early 70's.   My aunt in KC had the HP in pic #1-2, always loved the sound of the water swishing when it was running and the scents of vinyl/porcelain/chlorine/bakelite when finished.  Reputed to be a positively pathetic...

    New Frigidaire Disposal

The great disposer debate...   Ralph, I use my disposer much like what you've described your sister's usage is.     When my just-out-of-warranty 3.25 year old ISE Badger (with SS grind components) started leaking, I shopped all of the ISE/Moen/Cheap-China models out there.  Intending...

    Maytag 906 set

Very nice looking set, welcome to the ease and convenience of pushbutton living! Does the washer cut out in spin, particularly while draining?  Sounds like a good going through both machines will do the trick to make them daily drivers.  Congrats.
