Easy fix. A new igniter can be installed from the front without pulling this dryer out of position. David

    Mowers

Hard starting. I know on many small engines, you should not tip the engine on its side with the carburetor down. Gas (maybe oil sometimes if things aren't right?) can flow out of the carb and get into the air filter. Once this happens, it is hard to start when the engine is hot. Try...

Frigidaire 1953 Model RT-20 Electric Range

Frigidaire Range. Worth keeping. I gave one to a friend (Classiccaprice) several years ago. Those thick surface elements are slow to react, but heat so evenly! It's the only electric stove on which I've ever cooked and didn't want to throw it out a window. The deep well is a nice feature...

    Mowers

Cut Quality & Capability. No matter what mower you have, having a good sharp blade which is properly balanced really makes a big difference in the quality of the cut and the capabilities of a mower (not bogging down). Mulching requires more power since there are more clippings in the blade at...

Settled on a Mazda 5 or a Mazda MPV.. Thoughts?? Any owners here

Honda Element? The Mazda 5 looks to have much in common with my Honda Element (spare car, my trusty old Volvo is still #1). I love my Element. It never breaks down, it's very adaptable, and I like the way it rides and handles. 5-speed transmissions are rare but they do exist (I have one...

Need help identifying a vintage GE part...

Dishwasher. It's a dishwasher part. I believe disposall parts start with WC. I don't know the specific application or date range, however. Dave

    Studebaker.

I know very little about Studebaker. They did have a pretty interesting design department, however. Were they good cars? Did Studebaker's engineering end up being as innovative as their styling? Were they durable? Were they nice to drive and live with, or were their competitors' offerings...

    Pittsburgh Wash In 2016

I would rather have been there. Instead, I was recovering from being sick last week & installing a huge window air conditioner. My chest and head feel much better now, but my back does not! Next year in Pittsburgh! Dave

Surprise! You're Buying A New Water Heater.

Thermostatic mixing valve. I own and live in a historic 4-family monster of a building. I am rehabing in accordance with historic preservation practices. Unfortunately, the house came with 3 water heaters, only one of which was functional, a 50 gallon gas tank. I plumbed the whole house into...

Need advice with Kenmore 70 series

FSP Warranty. Whirlpool's parts division is called FSP. Their parts have a 1 year warranty. To make a warranty claim, you'll need a receipt, the model number of the washer, and the serial number too. Sounds like it's a defective pump. Dave

    OMG!!!

I will buy this! I love to wash and dry, but I hate folding. I hate ironing too, but I do a lot of it because I LOVE starch! Can the machine fold a fitted sheet as well as I can? Dave

Need some lawn mower advice. What is the best?

Snapper! I have a Snapper Ninja. The Ninja is the Hi-Vac, with a slightly different shaped deck to facilitate mulching over bagging, although I can still bag if I want to. The Ninja uses the same drive system as the Hi-Vac. Mine has a B&S overhead valve engine with an oil filter and pump...

New find - Hamilton Automatic Clothes Dryer

Hamilton. I believe that is the only dryer I want to own that I do not already have. I've only seen one once, but I was very impressed with it. I would not want to use it all the time, but that's why I have other dryers anyway :) Davew

Selling Maytag Washer and Dryer advice on info?

Models. Washer looks like an A608 circa 1975-1980 ish. Dryer may be a DG409, same time period. I am less certain about the dryer, although it is gas. Good set! Dave

Need advice with Kenmore 70 series

WP DD Pump. One thing to watch out for on Whirlpool Direct Drive pumps is the installation. If the old pump had been leaking for some time, the shaft may have started to rust. When the shaft rusts, it can seem to swell. This is especially common if the old pump really fought you when you...

    Forced Air Heat Registers

Soak, strip, paint! Soak it in a tub of Pepsi or Coke Classic for a few days, then wash, rinse, spray prime, and spray paint them! The acid in the cola will dissolve the old paint. Wash and dry them to get rid of the cola and grime. Go over them with mineral spirits to prep them for paint...

    Pittsburgh Wash-In Cancelled

I'm Sorry! I have enjoyed the wash in in previous years. Hopefully I will have some better machines in working order by next year to bring. Maybe even something by Westinghouse. Dave

Welcome! Welcome to Automaticwasher.org. Maytag 906 sets are pretty rare. An 806 set is much easier to find and every bit as capable. They light up too! Also, check out www.retrorenovation.com. Please post more photos of your new place, Dave

    Kenmore Dryer breakdown and rebuild

Tips Look up Youtube videos on kit number 4392065. That is the kit with the belt, rollers, and idler pulley. Those videos will show you how to get into the cabinet, where the parts are located, and how to replace them. I love those Whirlpool 29" dryers! Dave
