    Moffat Fiesta 24 cooker

Moffat The resemblance to the cooker shown in the opening post can be seen here although still of Canadian manufacture as can be seen by the element in the bottom of the oven - apologies for the quality of the pictures which were taken from an ebay listing

    Moffat Fiesta 24 cooker

Mid 1960s By the mid 1960s the range was consolidated into 30 and 24" models. The split level unit was also widely seen in upmarket kitchens although there was competition in the split level units from Creda, Tricity, English Electric and Jackson (also a Canadian import). In the Luxury floor...

    Moffat Fiesta 24 cooker

Moffat I have seen Moffat cookers in publications in the immediate pre and post WW2 publications. It is not clear to me where they might have been manufactured as the post war model looks decidedly old fashioned and like something from the 1930s. Not much more is seen until the late 1950s when...

What is this vintage dishwasher with propeller in bottom

It will be interesting to see a bit more of this dishwasher - being GEC one would expect some sort of British connection but its not like anything I have seen before. GEC did have a dishwasher in the early 1960s but it was top loading and looked like a GE MobileMaid

    Hoover Portapower adapter

It was called Maytag Satellite in UK and possibly Europe as Hoover US did not have the rights to the Hoover name and possibly Constellation as they belonged to Candy at the time. It was similar to the one posted by Eddie above. The hose connection is completely different and the hose itself was...

    Hoover Portapower adapter

Adaptor That adaptor is to connect older style hoses to the Portapower not attachments - these would date back to the 1960s. As MattL says, much better to have a new hose made up to fit on the old Constellation ends - you may find an old style hose on ebay but if not make sure a new lightweight...

    Miele Washer Dryer - WT1 - PowerWash2.0 & Twin Dos

Miele washer dryer I think you are right - get this installed at home where you can use and appreciate it and replace it with something cheap and cheerful like a Beko for your rental property

The Dilemma: Which dishwasher to keep?

One more here for keeping the Bosch. You will not gain a lot of storage space with the single Dish drawer and a full size dishwasher will be far more use. It is so helpful when entertaining, I have two full size dishwashers in my kitchen and honestly I am not sure I could ever go back to one.

Miele G646 SC turbothermic plus dishwasher ķ

G646 I bought one similar on sale, December 2002. After having a rest for a few of years it is in regular use once again. The UK version would be slightly different as our 13Amp sockets could not cope with 3.3KW loading. It always performed well for me Al

Welcoming The Aussy Boys - Matty & Eliot to the UK

More bread I have also made these dinner rolls - more work but again well worth it. The recipe calls for 347g of white bread flour - I now use 100g white flour and 247g wholemeal flour - again the recipe if on the link below https://www.joyofbaking.com/breads/SoftDinnerRolls.html

Welcoming The Aussy Boys - Matty & Eliot to the UK

Bread Recently in the UK quite a lot of attention is being given to what is termed Ultra Processed Foods (UPF) which refers to chemicals added to cheap ingredients to make the finished product more palatable. "Healthy" or Low fat options are often culprits here and of course the UK has a huge...

Welcoming The Aussy Boys - Matty & Eliot to the UK

Mixers Well spotted Pete, I too had a Moulinex Multichef which I bought circa 1983 which gave sterling service until about 1996 when it gave up the ghost as I was using it to crush some ice. The box in Reply 3 actually contains a NIB Multichef which I am planning to bring into service soon (but...

    Swedish kitchen adverts part 2

Wash And Rinse The EE machine is certainly a strange one. Compared to the UK manufactured version much of the machine has been reversed, note the controls and I don't recall ever seeing a power wringer with the drive post on the right hand side of the machine - the picture does not appear to be...

    MCM Home in Seattle

And another British one This one is a bit closer to me and I would LOVE to live in it. I would say the house is 1960s rather than 1970s. Sadly the kitchen is not original and indeed may be of two different decades - the "working" part looks rather modern, the rather ugly handles on the wall of...

    MCM Home in Seattle

And a British one In Hampstead, London Its a wonder those louvre windows have lasted all this time. The kitchen cabinets look original, the cooker/range is a lot more modern

    What are/were Champion washers?

Champion Its an interesting one this. Firstly Radiation (using that same trade mark) was a group of British companies including Jackson (Electric cookers/ranges), Parnall (washers and dryers) and New World (Gas cookers/ranges). The model names of Topline and Trimline were used for Jackson...
