    Time For a New Furnace

maybe the fact that a furnace has to coordinate with a thermostat, air conditioners and heat pumps has something to do with needing the electronics.

    1978 WP Commercials - 16mm Film

I noticed they mention that the microwave oven will start when the cook is not there, a "delay start". Consumer reports didn't like delay start in microwave ovens because they were bad for food safety, uncooked foods could spoil before the microwave comes on.

    Time For a New Furnace

Actually Chet, what you describe is complicated and is why modern furnaces have electronic controls. Also the electronics make the high efficiency possible and enhance the safety of the equipment. Chet, what kind of engineer were you? It sounds like you could be an electrical engineer, who...

what would be your choice of vintage dishwasher to install in a modern kitchen if you do not went something modern or with manual filter to clean

Actually, eventually, there were GE Kenmore units, but usually the lower priced dishwashers. These were made of solid plastic.

what would be your choice of vintage dishwasher to install in a modern kitchen if you do not went something modern or with manual filter to clean

Chet, I remember looking at dishwashers in about 1983 and looked at Whirlpool and GE and was not impressed, even the WP seemed cheap and I knew from people who we knew who had apartments that GE and Hotpoint was loud. Then Sears had a sale and to me, the Kenmore actually looked better. I could...

what would be your choice of vintage dishwasher to install in a modern kitchen if you do not went something modern or with manual filter to clean

But it ROARED Like A Power Mower! I wonder if that is one reason why Sears went with D&M instead of GE for their dishwashers because even D&M was less loud, at least when they were new (got noisier later on)

    KUDD23 saves the day

When did Whirlpool stop calling KA dishwashers KUD? I think the last was KUD25, then they went to the tall tubs with different model numbers.

    Time For a New Furnace

The longest lasting furnace is a boiler Houses with hydronic hot water heat will not need a new boiler for at least 30 years. My sister had a 90 year old house and the second boiler was installed in 1948, the previous boiler was coal and this one is gas. Not all that efficient but as of...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

If you ever worked cleaning in a commercial setting, you will want a commercial quality vacuum in your own home too. I always had the Windsor models when the employer provided the vacuum. For other places I worked I often would bring in my vacuums that I were used by my extended family (and...

Speed Queen Special Military Edition Washer

But really, Delicate on a washer for the military? The Marines would want something tougher than a TR.

The white might be for the Navy for the white sailor uniforms - they have to be spotless when they line up on the ship!

Difference between Home-style and Commercial Speed Queen

Actually, I think this is for older Speed Queen models.

Speed Queen Special Military Edition Washer

Actually, I thought the settings on a military washer would be for different branches of the service, with the Marines having the most intense cycle. Space Force would not have one since all their uniforms are dry cleaned.

Speed Queen Special Military Edition Washer

Chetlaham Is this for real oor is this a machine panel you made up? I would think an Army machine might have a camoflage cycle, a Navy one a whites cycle and blue cycle, and an Air Force one a blues cycle.

1989 White Westinghouse front load washer

I have to wonder: Did the Westinghouse front loader back then cost about the same, adjusted for inflation, as a Speed Queen front loader today?
