My Aunt Doris got a new Sears Coldspot refrigerator (top freezer) in the Spring of 1974, and kept it until around 2003. It had a great ice maker, and they never had trouble with it. The new refrigerator - I think Frigidaire - didn't have that great of an ice maker.
