Kirkland powder It seems to be an unremarkable product... there's no enzymes in the mixture.

    Vanish

I wouldn't have thought so - Vanish Stain Remover powder is just a slightly more concentrated laundry powder. I suppose the only way it might ruin a machine, would be if the user habitually used a ton of the stuff, constantly causing a drum full of suds, damaging the bearing seal and bearings...

    Hoover Automix Food Mixers

Hoover and Kellogg's I was watching recently an episode of 'The Two Ronnies', and Ronnie Barker was playing an 'expert' flogging 'BOFFO' products. One of the items was 'Boffo Cornflakes' - in a giant-size packet, compared to another ordinary brand (which was clearly 'Kellogg's' - but only...

I remember Lever Bros. had 'SquEzy' dish washing-up liquid: black and white plastic bottle, yellow cap. It was a clear yellowish liquid. It seemed to disappear from the marketplace. I agree that Lever's 'Wisk' was found wanting - I never found it to be much cop either. Neither were the sister...

Ariel 'Stain Remover' Made by Star Brands, under licence. I wonder whether P&G are moving to 'modular' detergents, allowing the user to add or ignore the bleaching component as desired? That might explain the bleachless Daz. https://www.starlaundryaids.com/pages/ariel

Miele Dishwasher Power - Is it regular Claro?

Lidl UK seems to be doing all-change with their detergent suppliers. The old rinse-aid came from Dalli, and seemed to be unique in that formulation - there was something like <5% anionic surfactants, in addition to the more usual non-ionic surfactants. The bottle used to be fairly square, then...

Miele Dishwasher Power - Is it regular Claro?

Spanish tablets Possibly Persan of Spain. I can't remember offhand, but the Aldi Magnum floppy pods might have been made by them. The Magnum pods were floppy gel things, like Finish Quantum Ultimate. They were square-shape format with the powder component running diagonally across the square...

Miele Dishwasher Power - Is it regular Claro?

The curious thing about your Miele tablets, is the ingredient ranges. Generally a detergent will state "5-15%: oxygen-based bleaching agents". Your Miele states "5-<15%". So, tighter tolerances.

I bought a bottle of Ariel Gel... The one with "Brrrilliant cleaning in cold water". There's nothing to indicate the 'Purezyme' concoction. For all I know, it could be stock a few months old. The dosing cap has changed since I last bought it, several years ago. It is now two-part hard plastic...

Miele Dishwasher Power - Is it regular Claro?

"...low foaming tablets..." I've tried Lidl basic tablets which were Dalli made, box of 50, low foam. You can (well I can anyway - in the Bosch) get away with two of these, and still no foam issues. McBride tablets: box of 50, under the 'Clean n Fresh' label, similar format to Lidl basic (thin...

"In the U.K. they knew people wouldn't swallow this, so they max out at 2 (our machines are smaller) but have you noticed that on the adverts they are also eager to push that you can wash that last minute needed 1 item of clothing with 1 pod, what a waste." I would love to see the lovely mess...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

Thanks Mr Alex! I see on the info-pg site that 'Daz Ultra Whites' powder no longer exists. What are they playing at? Another example of a castrated detergent. Procter & Gamble can go and take a running jump... right into the tide for all I care. I think I'll stick to Lidl's Formil, which...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

"they seem hell bent on getting people converted to liquids, if not better pods." They do. They must have lots of patents tied up in those. Powders will be probably be well out of patents now. Even the 'smaller' detergent companies can produce powders of high quality these days. Liquids are...

Formil versus Ariel I found that too. A dried bloodstain on a pillow case was repeatedly washed with Ariel. It faded but did not remove it. This went on for months and months. Then, switched to Formil. Three washes later, stain completely gone. Very suspicious performance from Ariel. Perhaps...

    Premature Sudsulation

"but I do believe that P&G needs to get their act together." Quite. I can't understand their thinking either. I often wonder whether the liquid portions of their pods contain bog-standard manual washing-up liquid? There's something in them which foams. And it doesn't matter how dirty the load...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

I noticed fairly recently too, that Lidl's Formil powder seems to have changed: new box shape (squatter, squarer - wouldn't fit in the cupboard!), new barcode (not the usual Lidl 8-digit code, this had 13 digits), different fragrance. The upshot is that the new version is apparently made by...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

Most powders in my experience actually outperform liquids at dirt removal, even the consumer test magazines recognise that. And some powders are better than others. I'm not convinced by that Ariel pod advert which has folk running through mud, and then shows them flinging pods into Hotpoint...

Indesit 850W Washing Machine - Need urgent help and expertise!

I'm assuming that the programmes you selected were ones with built in 'rinse hold' such as 'delicates'? If so, then yes, the machine is supposed to stop full of cold water on the final rinse (to prevent creasing of synthetic fabrics). To get a full programme wash-rinse-spin, you would have to...

    Premature Sudsulation

I've tried Aldi's Magnum pods before. I didn't care for the fragrance. Their All-in-1 hard tablets seemed to foam up too. Generally, I've found Lidl's W5 All-in-1 to be better, and the basic/classic W5 tablets seem to be immune to foaming. As are McBride's 'Clean n Fresh'. Have Persil...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

UK Ariel 'All-in-1' pods... Apparently do (my error) have the new Phosphodiesterase enzyme, though it seems depending on which flavour of these pods you buy, that the enzyme and one or more of the other enzymes might be absent...older formulations, grey imports, etc. The Ariel 3-in-1 pods...
