POD 9-26-14 Whirlpool Imperial Washer for 1956

My grandparents had this set at least thru the mid 60's until they replaced it with the then current production Maytags. I'd love to have a set of these!

    New member-new vintage Maytags

Nice score, Rob! I suspect if you give them a full-on tune up using all the wonderful information you'll find on this site, they will be more than adequate to handle all your laundry needs. And you can probably pass them on to your toddler when they're ready to leave home. They'll still be...

I didn't know they had an atomic power option back then. Neat green glow!

    Maytags in the laundry room...

That's the set I'd love to have, but I scored a LA712/LDG512 locally for free with low hours. The almond color matches the laundry room perfectly! After having to use my friends' LG front loaders during my divorce, these are a dream. Great score, Stephanie!

    P.O.D. - 6/22/14

We used to have one of those machines in the early 60's. As I recall, my dad wasn't too fond of it as he was always having to fiddle with it, usually with the water level switch in the lid. Somewhere in a box of goodies, I still have a set of mercury switches from it with the Maytag logo...

    70's Kenmore Suds model

Have you tried.... ...an impact driver on that stuck screw? Harbor Freight used to carry one. Sears still does. Basically you hammer on the back of the tool and it incrementally rotates the bit in the end of it. The combination of smacking and rotating will budge a lot of stubborn screws...

    KitchenAid model info

Last one.... Some staining on the door. Haven't really tried to do any cleaning. It was too late in the day to really fiddle with it. Underneath looks good, tho. No water stains like it had been leaking. The control panel area needs a good cleaning and the selection buttons stick. The...

    KitchenAid model info

Greetings and pre Happy Holidays! Negotiating a deal with a locally owned KitchenAid Superba. I asked the owner to supply a model number, but I don't know where to tell them to look. All they said was it's a Superba Monterey 21. Is this a Hobart produced unit? Where would the official...

Well I've got it apart, now what?

That Vista Cruiser isn't looking too bad, either. I have the later version of that washer - A712, but an earlier version of the station wagon - 1965 Buick Sportwagon

What Was the first vintage washer you remember seeing or started up as a child

Just became a member and this is my first posting... The first one I remember was probably a Maytag AMP. Bright red agitator with a stainless cap that pushed on a black button in the lid. That was about 1963 or so. I recall my dad having to do some work on it with the mercury switches in the...
