    my maytag DG 750

OK- I visited my DG 750 today and noticed that none of the push buttons PUSH - it's not plugged in nor has it been for a number of years ... and maybe I'm being premature with even worrying about this - but should the buttons have resistance?

me too ... I'm a kid of the 50's & 60's - our family had generic white appliances - but an aunt and uncle had the all turquoise kitchen in the 60's - I fell completely in love - they are 80 & 82 now and have visited the remodel that I'm working on - my aunt loves the turquoise of course - but...

    how we got here

neat story! I am in the process of updating and in some cases "backdating" the house that my parents built in 1972 - I took out mom's avocado wall oven and replaced it with a 60's turquoise GE wall oven that I had grabbed from the curb in my neighborhood - I had searched estate sales, ebay &...

    how we got here

Since I'm new to the group - and after reading the post on appliance longevity - I would love to hear everyone's story on how and when they first appreciated/loved/lusted after vintage appliances - and if that passion overlaps into your "day job". I think I've have always been fascinated by...

So, just how powerful is that Microwave??

the "pulsating" .. just a funny to share - before I changed out the power panel in my 1955 house and upgraded the electrical service from the pole - my entire house would "pulsate" when I ran the Radarange on defrost - you could stand outside and watch the house lights slightly dim - then...

    Bad Steaks!

kroger Being a beef loving Texan - I only buy ANGUS tenderloin from my local Kroger - it's more expensive than some cuts - but more reasonably priced than buying from a fancier store - I'm rarely disappointed and Kroger has never refused to credit me for anything that I have returned - no...

What appliance co did you consider best years ago..

kitchenaid maytag ... when I moved into my vintage 1955 house in 1993, it had the original O'Keefe & Merritt super chromey stove and a sink/dishwasher/cabinet unit with what appeared to be a newer than 1955 Kitchenaid dishwasher - however after a few repairs and the door finally falling off...

Decorative Refrigerator side by sides from the 60's

not me .. but I did find two references - the daughter of the designer (Bill Reddig) has the Jack of Hearts from the family home .. and I found another reference on an advertising forum about a Federal one in a grandmother's basement ... leads me to think that they weren't sold in big numbers...

Appliance/Elevtronic status symbols by the decade

central vac .. my parent's home was built with central vac in 1971 - it is still working well - there are "portholes with covers" which receive the vacuum hose and when shoved into the connection - the unit activates - central unit located in the garage
