    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

No straw man. These things happen in the real world. No need to get your bloomers in a bunch. I don't throw pans at my stove either. Use what you like. As long as it isn't hurting others....isn't that the mantra ?

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

There are other concerns also.Induction ranges or non coil electric stoves have GLASS cooktops. Metal and glass is not the best combination for an appliance that gets used nearly every day. There is always the potential you accidently drop a heavy pot on the cooktop. The glass shatters and...

That Westinghouse commercial also tested against solid tub washers. Where was Whirlpool or Kenmore in those tests ?

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

I'm the entrenched to you.? You don't know me from a can of paint buddy. Fire is a God given blessing as well as the world's natural gas. Yes I used the G word here. (Can here it now .) The world won't be "safer" by eliminating natural gas in homes. As far as my "kind of thinking" once again...

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

Sounds to me like some here would force others to use electric if they had that kind of power. Once again if you don't want gas then don't have a home heated by it. I can find reports on the positives of gas. I've seen these threads before and it just seems there is this almost irrational...

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

My kitchen is properly vented with a range hood that vents outside so not a problem. Admittedly I would like to try induction cooking but the thought of metal and glass colliding being I am sometimes heavy handed when I cook. Most electric ranges are glass top so that is a strike against them...

    frontload laundry

My question is this. How is it in the USA that front loaders in the past were tested and found not to wash as good as top loaders even with low sudsing detergent ? Since the introduction of the Frigidaire gallery in 1997? the paradigm has shifted ? What changed ? Honestly I can't see how a...

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

If gas was really detrimental to our health wouldn't something have been done long ago ? If you guys don't like gas that is fine but done deny or try to sway the people that do. We all have our likes and dislikes. We shouldn't go trying to "childproof" the whole world.

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

Me too. I will also keep my gas range. I love my low heating bills using natural gas. My stove burns clean. I use my vent when I cook anyway. Using electric here in the winter for heating could easily cause you to run up a$300-$400 or more dollar electricity bill monthly. I'm a grown man and...

    frontload laundry

Hi GELaundry4ever. I bought my first front loader last year in June 2019. I have to say I am a convert to front load washing. I thought I would miss all of that water but I have been pleasantly surprised at how good they actually do wash. I purchased a Whirlpool WTW6620 and it is a very good...

John I agree about the browning. Up until recently I did most of my baking in an electric KitchenAid countertop oven. Loved that smaller oven for things like chickens or meatloaf and whatever else I could fit inside. I don't get the same browning even if I put foods in the upper most position in...

The knobs on the range in front also have a nice tactile click when you turn the knobs on or off and when you set them to warm. New range knobs don't have that anymore. Just a mushy feeling. I don't know.....I tend to notice things like that.

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

Hi John. The only thing the preheat function does is turn on the top broiler to heat the oven to whatever temperature you choose quickly. Once the temperature is reached the broiler turns off and then the oven heats from the bottom burner. Very stylish range but also a pain to keep clean...

The shame of it is is that I will be moving soon and I will have to leave it behind. The new people will probably toss it for shiny and new.
