Yes Only the newer Hoover ttubs, the ones with plastic lids required starting caps.   be sure to have the motor run free from the belt and pulley whilst it is on and working its way through the oil

If it were a newer model then I would say it needed a new starting cap. I've drenched motors in WD-40 to get them going even while they were on! worked for me.

Thanks How fascinating especially like the first three pics.   Matthew, those Whirlpool's... had it not been for the cheap control board I reckon they would still be going strong. It's the same problem with them all. Lights up light a Xmas tree and all you get are blinking lights.  

Neither can I Will be sure to make a very detailed video of a complete cycle from start to finish as soon as she arrives which will be on Tuesday the 3rd. Monday's public holiday being the reason for a slight delay.
