    Disposable razors

Bearded fellow turns thread toward appliances ;) I too sport almost a full beard and a mustache; I have a Phillips trimmer to clean it up with, and I had to buy a Remington electric shaver when the batteries in my (recharge-only) Norelco died. I like the corded type of shavers and I've always...

Take Hope, Vintage Appliance fans, and Sieze the Day!

Fedders! Mine can direct the Air Flow wherever you want it. It does not ice up (or hasn't yet!) although a weep hole may be plugged or I may need to re-seat it as it seems intent on dumping some of the copious quantity of water it takes out of the room onto the window sill. In front of the...

Filters... The air filter in this unit was replaced by the previous owner with a simple piece of (bright green!) Air Con filter material. It's a right bitch to get it to stay in place while you place the grill -where do you get the filter? I'll try Fedders themselves... seems a likely source.

Take Hope, Vintage Appliance fans, and Sieze the Day!

Thanks man! I can tell you everything that's on the tag but I'm not sure how the year is indicated. I know these are still made, though. Anywho, the tag has the following info (aside from the cooling capacity (8,000) and the amps. etc,: Model 5A12E2, Rev. A. What I'm pretty sure is a serial...

Take Hope, Vintage Appliance fans, and Sieze the Day!

Because today I got my dream machine. Tomorrow you might get yours. The build quality is amazing. The rubber is still supple, there are no squeaks, and it is phenomenally quiet. I see why these are so popular in Florida -it seems to extract moisture very well. The air stream is very quiet and...

    There is hope.!

No offence meant, Oxy I too extend my appology. There is no need for trivial squabling, especially under the happy announcement that sense has struck another community (or at least another judge).

    There is hope.!

I too agree entirely with that concept. Some people have complained that allowing gay marriage would force churches to compromise their moralities by forcing them to marry gay couples. First of all I say "Big Fecking Deal" to this, the law gives the shaft to plenty of other churches and...

The GTE This was my grandmother's. I love it.

Time of day calling it quits at AT & T

Phone Phun! The newest phone I have here is the one on my desk, a weird "BellSouth" product that I bought for one reason and one reason alone -it had individual memory buttons. In my living room I have one of the old GTEs with the linear keypad; many people didn't seem to like these but I find...

    There is hope.!

Straight man posts proudly from enlightened State I'm glad to see that sense is spreading, slowly but surely. I'm a libertarian at heart, though, so my attitude is "unless you can prove to me why he shouldn't have it, let him have it". Nobody's ever given me a good answer why gays shouldn't be...

    The very best vinyl player?

Lasers wearing out??? Don't know about that, and some of the stuff the pass off to "Audiophiles" is absolute bunk. The laser in my Citizen CD player from 1986 still works fine, and the lasers in even the oldest of Laserdisc players are reported to still work. Perhaps the old Noble gas-charged...

    ESTATE SALE ALERT! Time Sensitive!

RIGHT NOW at 140 Pollard St. in N. Billerica MA, and TODAY ONLY there is an estate sale. I JUST came from it not ten minutes ago and there was an old Amana microwave (not branded as a Radarange on the front, curiously), and an old (I'd guess 70s vintage) Kitchen-aid by Hobart Automatic...

ORGANISTS- What kind of organs do you play?

*Sighs* I used to play, it was years ago, though. I had a lovely little Hammond L-112. There is just nothing like the old tone generator organs. I had the great misfortune of attending catholic school as a child and I did get to play the organ in the chappel on occasion; it was a Wurlitzer (I...

When the Moon is in the 7th House.....

Ah, I remember... The Mars thing in '03, everyone was standing around outside and passing around my old WWII-vintage mil-spec Binoculars (complete with artillery sight lines!) because they were the most powerful we had on hand. Fun times, everything stopped that night.

Vintage GE Kitchen W/ RCA Whirlpool Fridge!

That stuff is pristine... I don't know why they'd get rid of it, they must hate turquoise, but then how did they get it (including dishes) in the first place? It looks so good and it doesn't look dated or anything.

Another new motor and a cold control later, the Coldspot A/C is working like a champ! It keeps the entier appartment at 68° while it's over 100° outside! Ah, the wonders of vintage appliances.

Weather... Well it gest hot here, believe me! The only weather or natural phenomenon we're not subject to in the northeast is Typhoons, and only because when they happen here they're not called Typhoons. We get everything else, though, from 100°+ days to ten below and four feet of snow. I like...
