'75 DE806 not shutting off after cool down

Sliding the slider manually turns off the heat but not the motor. The only thing that turns it off is opening the door.

Same situation. It dings, shuts the heat off and then runs indefinitely. The slider slides properly now though.

I just cleaned it out with some contact cleaner. It’s sliding nicely now. Let’s see what happens.

Is the shut off slider the little clip the paper clip attaches to? If so, it moves, but it’s a little crunchy.

It runs the full cycle and dings, clothes are dry, but then it still goes into the endless cool down and never shuts off. Here are some pics of the control.

Ben, where is the electronic control capacitor? I’ll test that next.

The stair step above still would say that the cool down sensor should be the issue. When it’s cold there is no continuity on the new part.

The part came and I replaced it and it still isn’t shutting off!

There is continuity! So this must be the problem. Thanks everyone!

Ben, I had towels in there and it ran out 50 minutes before it dinged and went into indefinite cool down.

Ok this is interesting. I ran the air fluff cycle and it Dinged at 15 minutes but then continued to run indefinitely.

Correction! I ran it again to see and the solenoid is disconnecting, pushing the paper clip out and turning off the heat, then it just keeps running and running. The moisture sensor and carbon rod seem ok. I get continuity from the sensor to the copper ring. Trying just the air fluff cycle now...

I ran it today and all of the clips are there but the solenoid was not activating. Makes me think it’s not getting the signal from the sensor. Which one is the cool down sensor?

Someone also mentioned that this could be a grounding issue somewhere. Does that sound like it could also be something?

Hi Everyone, Does anyone have experience with an DE806 not turning off after cool down? The heat shuts off at the DING!, but then it will just run indefinitely on air. Thanks! -Mark

    Maytag 806 unbalanced when empty!

It’s fixed with a little help from Volvoguy (Dave) who was here in Atlanta conveniently. It looks like it rattled lose one of the suspension support bolts which threw the whole thing out of wack. It’s all fixed and runs like it should. Thanks for all the help!

Ok I’m back at the machine and this is what I’ve found. It looks like the inner tub is sitting at an angle against the outer tub. Hopefully loosening the tub nut and spacing it properly will work? Here are some pics showing the issue.

I’ve never removed the agitator in an 806 yet. How is that done?

    Maytag 806 unbalanced when empty!

That has to be the issue. I just checked the spacing between the inner and outer tubs on another 806 and on my 142 and it’s even all the way around. Thanks for the help! Spanner wrench is already on the way!

    Maytag 806 unbalanced when empty!

I’ll try to get a picture when I’m back there tomorrow. There is a bit of a scraping sound coming from up higher as it wobbles. The gap seemed to stay in the same place even after spinning it multiple times though. Even slowly turning the belt didn’t change the gaps on either side.
