    Smelly Whirlpool top loader

About twelve hours after running a load of laundry, my Niece's Whirlpool top-loader smells like rotten eggs. You can smell it just by walking by the machine but you can check the drum and tell that this is where the odor is strongest. After about twelve hours the odor dissipates completely. We...

Costco Offering a Hamilton Beach 11 Cu. Ft Upright Freezer

Just part of the job. It was interesting. Received pre-production sample. Tested it. Checked instruction manual against features. Correct errors and misspellings. Rinse, repeat until ready for release.

Costco Offering a Hamilton Beach 11 Cu. Ft Upright Freezer

Owner’s manual As I used to proofread instruction manuals and correct them in my day, I did so with this one just for old times’ sake. Not a bad job from a Chinese vendor. Although hints of “Chinglish” throughout, I only found one minor error (repeat of a warning). The fact that they used the...

Household trash compactors vs plastic bottles

Builds muscles Considering the hoard of bottles I am seeing, I may end up with pretty big “guns” using SudsMaster’s method.

Household trash compactors vs plastic bottles

I appreciate the continued info… And I may still try to pick up a compactor. Thx!

Household trash compactors vs plastic bottles

Thanks for the info. In my case, I am trying to help a friend who is well along the way toward hoarding disorder. If I could pick up a trash-compactor cheap, and it works on plastic bottles, it may be money well spent. However, if the compacted bottles suddenly sprung back to life, knocking me...

Household trash compactors vs plastic bottles

Are standard home trash compactors, popular in the 1970s, 1980s capable of crushing plastic bottles effectively? Or do the bottles just expand back after crushing enough to negate the effort of crushing them at all?

Vollrath New Era 5 Ply Alum. Core Stainless Steel Cookware

My other trick.. ,.. So to speak. Here is my “three-rubber-bands-lid-holder-while-you-store-it” trick.

Vollrath New Era 5 Ply Alum. Core Stainless Steel Cookware

I have a Vollrath electric… Chafing dish? Buffet server? Is Vollrath a commercial product? Fun to use. Throw stuff on it; keeps it hot. Nicer appearing than most. Also: Please note my toilet-paper-tube cord-keeper trick that I believe I learned from Dorsey Connors.

    New refrigerator. Quietest?

Thanks for the info! I’ve got something to work with. I’m doing a bit of a favor for someone but one of the parties has been historically “particular” about the strangest things. Just trying to do a little bit of homework to head off a potential noise issue. Much obliged!

    New refrigerator. Quietest?

I need to buy a new, plain-Jane 18 cubic foot refrigerator for someone. Which brand, make or model is quietest? Have encountered a noisy brand? All comments welcome.

    Large platen printer/scanner recommendation

Well, my office / lab is in the basement but the printer is in the den two floors up. Both of us working from home created a cramped den, so I moved to the basement. I am tired of "doing stairs" just to get my printouts. Looking for recommendations for a large platen, printer, scanner, fax. Our...

    Nationwide gas stove ban?

Da hood Just read about this. I believe an AHAM rep stated that all cooking off-gasses and the solution is just better or forced-air ventilation particularly for gas ranges. I find it hard to believe that gas ranges or related would ultimately be banned. Jenn-Air patents for downdraft...

    What are these things?

That was fast! Thanks for all the input. Indeed, the farm had livestock many years ago when an adjacent farm’s barn burnt down. The livestock came to visit for a while. Perhaps the owner left the tattoo pliers behind. Maybe the cows turned into meatballs. At any rate, case closed. Much obliged!

    What are these things?

Holy Meatballs Batman! I NEVER thought of meatballs! Big thanks for figuring that one out. We were truly stumped.

    What are these things?

While cleaning out my in-law’s estate (a farm) we encountered these items. One item is a device that punches “AA 409” onto things. The other is a round, clampy thing with holes. Any ideas what these are? All comments, good or bad or campy jokes welcome.

Time To Stop Reheating Foods In Microwave

I am one with my microwave Not only did I work for a rather popular microwave-oven manufacturer (name withheld), but I taught training classes for techs and learned tips and tricks with our own home-economist. For that reason I can make my virtually indestructible SHARP R-930BK...
