    Another Maytag A206 Question

Hi beekeyknee, Thanks for the tips -- I can also thank you for the post you did when you transferred an old-style transmission into a newer Maytag machine -- that's what I followed when I worked on my trans and it was an excellent guide. I've always wanted to see the inter-workings of a...

    Another Maytag A206 Question

I'll just leave it for now. I won't be using this washer on a regular basis anyway. It's been sitting in my garage for the last 10 years and I didn't want to throw it out, so I thought I'd try to fix it up. I didn't think the old style transmissions could still be purchased; the newer Maytag...

    Another Maytag A206 Question

I am staring the process of putting back together my 1970 Maytag A206 washer--the biggest job was taking apart the transmission, cleaning it out and replacing the oil. I could not have managed that without this website. Found lots of excellent posts that even a mechanically challenged person...

    Maytag Washer Bolt Question

The bolts seem to be in very good shape, but the rubber gaskets seem kind of stiff. Could I use the same gasket sealant I used on the cork gasket on the transmission? If I would decide to order new bolts should I just get all short ones or get a long one for the front? When I noticed all the...

    Maytag Washer Bolt Question

I'm working on a 1970 Maytag A206 and have a question about the tub bolts. I see that it is recommended to buy new bolts with new gaskets. From what I have read in other posts I need the following: 2 of Part #200744 Short bolt & gasket 1 of Part #205254 Long bolt & gasket. My question is...

    Maytag A206 Transmission Help

Hi everyone, Thanks for all the responses. I just assumed that the bolts had broken--I could get one of them to catch without the cover plate, but with the cover plate it wouldn't. Plus it looks like I can see the remains still inside the gear. I did replace the bottom O-ring, and the fiber...

    Maytag A206 Transmission Help

My name is Doug and I'm working on my first washer project--my old 1970 Maytag A206 Washer. I'm working on the transmission--mine had two bolts and a snap ring holding the pitman arm to the pitman gear. Apparently I didn't remove to bolts correctly because they both broke off in the gear. Has...

    POD 08/03/2010 1956 FRIGIDAIRE PULSAMATIC

My family had a WD-56 Delux model. I remember it had a tan rubber pulsator with the black cap with a phillips head screw that I was always dying to take a screw driver to. (never had the nerve) It was purchased in 1956 and lasted until 1970. I remember that the wash tub would keep coming...

    Requesting tips on Maytag repair

Can I ask a stupid question? I'd like to order the tub seal kit from the link--is the other part #Y0A4298 ordered separately? I tried keying in that # on the Midwest Appliance web site, but nothing came up. Or does that part come with the stem seal kit?

    Question - New Whirlpool Toploader

Maytag lint filter My washer has a "self-cleaning" lint filter under the agitator. I'm just stubborn--I like to see how much lint is being collected. I do get quite a bit of lint on the manual filter with towels & blankets.

    Question - New Whirlpool Toploader

I guess I should listen to appnut & not worry about it until something happens. (I tend to obsess) I haven't had any problems since I bought it. I ditched the corkscrew agitator & replaced it with a 12 vane one that has a lint filter. Works much better, although I'd still rather have my old A206...

    Question - New Whirlpool Toploader

I was just wondering if the tub seal problem was common with this Maytag model #LAT2500AAE, which is the same as mine. I have been confused about the "Performa" aspect of this machine -- I keep hearing how junky Performa's are. I bought my machine from the local authorized Maytag dealer, so I...
