    New to site.

Welcome to the site from one Si to another! Always great to see enthusiasts come across the site for the first time, it's nice to find out you're not alone! I don't post here as often as I'd like to, but it's a sound bunch of guys here and I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.   Was it a deliberate...

Hotpoint Automatic De Luxe 1509/05 - the Phoenix has arisen!

Superb! Hey Paul,   Glad to see her looking like she should again, there's really something majestic about a Hottie TL!  Damn those water meters, but maybe you could save water in other ways - strip bathing in the sink, building an earth closet in the garden etc perhaps!   Fantastic that...

    Countertop Dishwasher

Chris, I used to have a machine similar to your Lemair, mine was badged as a Husqvarna although I think it was more basic than yours, with only one rocker switch. It died blowing out sparks, as there appeared to be a long term leak onto the motor, the field coils were literally disintegrating...

Pre 2010 Candy Explodes in the UK

The fact that Hoover/Candy claim the issue was resolved in 2009 bothers me - it does rather imply that after identifying the potential problem, they just hoped that it wouldn't manifest itself in the lifetimes of the affected machines. Their claims that it is a 'very small, very rare issue'...

    British Kitchen Design Late 1968

Gorgeous kitchens! I'm always threatening my other half with going over our kitchen with purple Fablon, and this is very inspiring! I'm pretty sure my grandma had the units on the front cover, the handle design and the peachy caramel colour look familiar, although hers was bought in 1979 (and...

    Ebay UK 2011 - January

In Sheffield A very nice looking Hoovermatic T5002, these standard models seem rarer than the De Luxes and this is the first T5002 I've seen for years. My mum had this model, and it's nice to see it pop up...

What a nice Hotpoint Empress on Ebay!

Hmmm Looks like the wringer has suffered a bit too much to make it a minter, and that is a hell of a lot of money. You should keep your eye out for one James, Empresses pop up quite a lot, and can go for peanuts on ebay. I think they look great fun!

Look what came home with me from Manchester

k1 Yep, was lucky enough to find one at a car booter in Brighton for a fiver! It's currently on display at the Science Museum in London. Unlike the K2, the switch isn't designed to be turned off by hand, once pushed in it's almost impossible to pop it out without boiling the kettle. I'd love...

    Hoover Tumble Dryer

Very cool, perhaps some family returned to the UK after a spell in SA, shipping the contents of their house back to dear old Blighty, when the natives got a bit too restless... There was a Hoover plant in SA, opened in 1963ish, there's a period Hoover promo film that mentions it as newly built...

    Hoover Twin tub pump wanted

Ricky, did you use grease or oil on the pump shaft? Should be oiled, via a hole near where the shaft enters the pump body. I agree with Mathew, they don't like standing for long periods, but I'm sure we've all done it! Hope you've been able to source a belt for the Bendix too! Si

    english electric front-loader sqaure door

Hey Rov, wouldn't recommend trying to run it unless you have it checked over first, perished internal hoses and/or wiring may cause damage to the machine - or yourself! It makes sense that this machine could well be a rebadged Hotpoint, we know they rebadged appliances for other export...

The machine in this advert is????

Well spotted Seamus! Here's a couple3 of Youtube captures - it has the second version of door latch, but the facia is brown round the selector buttons, a case of 'none of the above' I think... That's a very groovy machine, was only vaguely aware of them before, makes the rubbish Servis turned...

Something a bit different from Ebay UK!

Very nice little machine! Must be the earliest known surviving Candy Auto in the UK by a country mile too! And a bit easier to find space for ;-) S

Look what came home with me from Manchester

Nice work Lee, Admire your dedication to sorting the old beast out! Hope the silicone fixes the pressure chamber, might be work whacking some car hose repair tape round it too, won't be pretty but should keep it together and prevent further splitting. By the way Paul - what the hell was the...

ESSEX GOING BACK TO MY ROOTS

Epic! Wow Gary, looks like you put in a lot of graft over those three days, very impressive! Hope that most of its issues have been dealt with. And that is one scary mains lead! Guess it looked fine from the outside? I've seen 1950s Hoover flexes crumble like that, but never on something so...

    Oh dear...Ebay is soooo dangerous.....

Lovely car, and what a bargain! Did she come ready for the road, or does she need a bit of fettling? Which GS do you have? I used to drive a 1978 Pallas, beautiful lttle spaceship, but like most 70s Citroens over here, rust got it in the end - apparently there are less than 36 GS/GSA's on th...

    Hotpoint 1012

Nice little machine, I had a similar one in the 1990s - seem to remember the dial markings were 'short spin', 'rinse', 'rinse and spin' and 'spin'. Hopefully someone has a spare console, or at least and illustration of one. I guess this model was dropped when the wringer machines went out of...

Look what came home with me from Manchester

Well done Lee, It's a great feeling to get something you suspected you'd never find! It does look very smart, even before cleaning. is the pressure vessel soft plastic? Wonder if you could fix it with automotive radiator hose tape or something. Have fun sorting her out! Si

ESSEX GOING BACK TO MY ROOTS

Well done Gary, the Logic dryer is nice, but wow, fantastic you've found a widebody! You must have a hell of a big boot in your car! Looks gorgeous even before cleaning, at this rate you're gonna have to name your garage Keymatic Korner or summat! Mike, looking forward to thread, just what are...

Purple Hotpoint Liberator... is it this one?

Great! Well done boys, another holy grail ticked off the list! Glad you've both found one of 'em. Is she in good working order? You might be interested in the link below regarding the soap drawer discolouration, although I can quite understand if you left it alone! Keep meaning to try it...
