Tankless water heater: Love 'em? Hate 'em? Let's go to the phones!

going tankless.... To really have a adequate tankless supply, you need something that will deliver at least 4 gpm at 120* or hotter. This requires a lot of gas input, and the units with the electric gas guns (power burners) are going to be the best at this. In addition to the venting, you...

    1960's Lady Kenmore set NIB

These need a lighted controls certification.... It may not be obvious on the washer, but the timer dial illuminates against a matte aluminum background and looks really cool with good detail. Dryer is lighted too.

    Birthday Presents #1

If these are common failures, I would consider reinforcing the unsupported end of the fan blades to prevent another failure. A band or wire around the periphery (under light tension) would prevent excessive flexing and subsequent failure due to centrifugal forces.

    Interesting document Re: water efficiency

potable water "....stating that there may be wars over potable water." Yea, and in the US it's already happening. These wars do and will exist between [land] developers and politicians over the use of the water that we are saving for them. This is no joke: here in southern California, water...

Age of the GE.... That GE with all the buttons is likely to be circa 1981 or '82. Now as for that copper Maytag 806 dryer--well forget that--rather, direct your attention to the avocado Kenmore gas dryer next to it with the modulating "Soft Heat" burner. About 100x better at drying than any 806.

    GE Filter Flo Queston

You need to get it out of there, as you risk the possibility of puncturing the tub boot, which would be decidedly unpleasant.

    Notice anything different?

Very nice machine... I just restored an identical, including color, machine over the last few months. It is a WWA-7070-BAL[AD], circa 1981. That machine worked continuously for 25 years and was never serviced until the oilite motor bushings finally ran out of lubricant last fall. Amazing...

    Questions about Kenmore High-Speed Dryers

If anything, the halo of heat dryers are known for being slow. It was not Maytag's best design for several reasons--including performance, which was generally poor.

    Questions about Kenmore High-Speed Dryers

I don't believe that the high-speed dryers were flawed. CU reported on them favorably and I've been using a '63 for more than ten years with good results and no difficulty. In fact, I prefer it over a dryer that would otherwise tumble my clothes to death--the high speed cuts the drying/tumble...

Specify a catalytic paint (using a cyanoacrylate hardener and/or urethane)and you will have a more durable finish than porcelain, as it resists chipping better. rickr--those are beautiful machines. Best washer for towels/cleaning cloths

Spin drains.... We all know that oils and other light soils will float up on the water. Now you guys that advocate spin drains must consider, that when things start spinning, you have nothing more than a centrifuge. So what happens to the lighter matter in a centrifuge? Well, it moves to the...
