Oh for sure, I'll definitely check the vent. It just seems unlikely to me that the vent will be the problem if the timer only sticks occasionally and starts working again when I basically just jiggle the dial. If the vent were clogged, it seems like the timer would just never advance.

Which vent is that? Do you mean the lint trap? I replaced the belt on it last week and vacuumed out the inside while I was in there but didn't notice anything that looked suspicious.

I think I found the top flange on eBay. Part # 9-11940 has been replaced by 902889 so I ordered one of those. Fingers crossed it's the right part.
