FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

Most testing is somewhat removed from reality. You gotta define some parameters that are standardized - what ever you choose, you'll be off in some way. 60F is 15C I think? Honestly don't know what EU start parameters are set to, but it's either 15C or 20C/68F. I think fridge testing in the US...

FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

It's a DOE document - just something more general about the procedures and topics regarding them: https://www.energy.gov/eere/buildings/articles/rcw-tp-rfi

FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

Keep in mind that this can vary WILDLY from model year to model year. Heck, before WiFi-connectivity, you could get different behaviour from the same type of machine depending on software revision that was in production at the very day your machine was produced. But warmer temps on shorter...

New full size LG heat pump dryer - DLHC4002

Because somebody mentioned LG, I checked their website and found this: https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-dlhc4002w-electric-dryer Appears to be the same dryer with a different control system - base functionality is the same. Personally wasn't a fan of the higher end UI by LG, and this...

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

Here in the EU, there is just nothing like towels from an old school condenser dryer. High heat, high steam just makes them puffy soft like nothing else. I think someone reported something similar about the Frigidaire Filtrator dryers. @mrb627 The biggest thing against that pair IMO would be...

FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

Found it! Not the actual documentation, but documentation calling back to it. The default must be used except for those mentioned. Soil level isn't one - thus that's the factor you can change to get out of "Eco" mode.

FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

That just can't be true. Show me one LG model that has any cycle where all parameters are fixed - there are none. That wasn't even true back in the day with timer machines - you could always change parameters. But you are correct - label cycles are only good for labels. That's true across...

FL Washers - Normal Cycle Warm Temp. Correlation to Soil Level

US energy rating regulations basically boil down to "Normal cycle as they come preset". I still find it highly interesting very few people in the US know that in washer circles - here in the EU, it's been pretty much instantaneous knowledge after the Eco-rating cycle really became a thing in the...

Are New Appliances Always Doomed? Why A Grass Roots Movement Could Change Things

I did some quick research, and both me and my typical AI assistants are not capable to find a specific phrasing that would require manufacturers in the EU to provide cycle counters. I am somewhat certain to have read that it is actually a requirement - either operating hour or cycle counters...

Are New Appliances Always Doomed? Why A Grass Roots Movement Could Change Things

I believe it is as part of some right to repair / eco design legislation. I think it's from the same piece of legislation that requires manufacturers to have certain parts available for 7 or 10 years, depending on which parts and what product. Even some very cheap manufacturers where very quick...

    Definition of Cold Water Washing

In the EU, generally, anything that doesn't require heating in most cases would be considered cold. 30C/86F would be low temp, but generally needs heating as it is above room temp. So wouldn't call that cold. 20C/68F could be considered cold IMO as under common circumstances that would be...

Whirlpool Parts Now Can’t be Found for Newer Washers?

Refurbished might mean a return. Whirlpool does do direct B2C now, and you can't really sell an opened return on a big appliance without checking it.

Whirlpool Parts Now Can’t be Found for Newer Washers?

Given I've never seen that particular design language on WP TLs and such, I guess these are brand new? It's really not uncommon for parts availability to lag a bit behind release dates, regardless of brand. Can take up to a few months to get full availability.

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

Cooldowns on anything above 60C/140F have been kind of the norm over here for decades. Some manufacturers allow you to deactivate them all together, some at least do temperature guided cool downs. But main reason is safety for both any plumbing that might not be up to code and for any drain...

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

As Normal is the rating cycle for both washing and drying, they do want some energy conservation in both operations. Drying at lower temp for longer is generally somewhat more efficient than high heat short drying - at least in a vented dryer. Heating power needed in a vented dryer generally...

New Siemens Dishwasher iQ700 - curious about what a noise is

I agree - some don't. The hiss is the air flow. You should hear a kind of hum when the machine is closed. That hum is what some people don't like, especially since the machine itself is that quiet

    New Kenmore Front Loaders

Sorry should have said the US size ones are a Midea design The compact one is definitely a Vestel. My bad!

    New Kenmore Front Loaders

What's really interesting: Kenmore used to have LGs TurboWash branded as Acella Wash. And the quick wash function on these is still called Accela Wash. So the registered trademark still exists even though it's no longer at all the same as it used to be. The separate extra water and extra rinse...

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

Bedding on Samsungs should be more of "Blankets" cycle from what I understand. Lower spin speeds to limit any balancing troubles. Medium wash temps for you sofa throws, any covers etc. - anything more decorative. Really not designed for how one would wash hygiene critical items like sheets...

Samsung 220 volt-Vented Combo Has Been Delivered - First Impressions

You're completely right - the US versions only get the extra rinse option. The EU has the set up where you set the actual number of rinses. (You set 3 rinses, you get 3 rinses etc.) Some of the other FLs in Samsungs line up have that set up - so I really don't get why this in particular doesn't...
