    12 volt appliances...

Vehicle and off grid use : crock pots, cup warmer/chillers, peltier junction food coolers, more recently motorized compressor mini fridges. find this stuff at truck stops among other sources. Now there is even 12v micro-mini split ACs for vehicle use that run a little BLDC hermetic scroll...

    Ungrounded Outlets

I recently bought a box of electrical supplies at a flea market and there were some molded in orange plastic "isolated ground" 3-prong outlets: not sure where those were originally used, but i might use out in the moon shack on inverter fed outlets.

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

Very cool and presuming 3-motor ? Akai was very good at making rugged, high performance tape machines of all types, even VCRs: I have an Akai cassette,1981, 2 motor ,and it is one of my faves: best sonics of any of my cassette decks including Revox. Highest picture performace VCR i ever had is an...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

BSR continued at least into the mid 1980s,but the proper "made in England" AC motor ones were done by then: I have a 1985 sears combo stereo and it has a "BSR",totally "BPC", Taiwan made DC motor belt drive turntable-even has the red label underneath like the old British ones.

That console stereo is a quite late model one,~1978-82.

I a bunch of reel to reel tape machines too-none in regular use at the moment , a couple work ok including 1959 Sony Tapecorder 101. 3 other Sony '62,'65,'68. Akai from '66,68,69. A GE,'69, tape portion made by VM. And junk remains of JVC 1967 and Philips 1962. Back around 1997-02, I used the...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Newest Collaro I have seen was from about 1978-had pot metal motor housing instead of black stamped steel of earlier ones

I was thinking about creating a post on that exact subject-I have machines with rubber tires, belts, pinch rollers, all over the place: all types of tape players,VCRs,phonos, projectors, even CD players often have belts. A few of my cars have cassette players too.

I need help finding out what type stove I have please (I don't know where else to post this)

Very cool Nifty fifties/beaver era range and in pretty nice condition. I think put a price of $300 as is and see if anyone bites...

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

$300 would be a good deal for the likely easy repair on this phono as long as the cartridge or motor don't have anything "funny' going on-the amp would be easy -standard parts and plenty of under chassis space. Probably a "hot" chassis since it is transformerless.

    Diesel "parking heaters" #2

these heaters still serving well-have not had to take apart and clean the Autoterm since i learned to not try waste oil in it (caused fouling of the burner) might install one in shipping container workroom.

Front loader or top loader machines?

super cool French machine-and in shaded coppertone! Right now have 2 front load and 2 top load on daily driver row: '01 He3 KM,'12 GE 24",'08 Hydrowave GE, and '82 SQ. No spin nonsense with a 3-belt westy: just bang! and drain hose jumps in the pipe from sudden pump engagement.

Does anyone have a need for traditional non-LED light bulbs, the kind that were banned?

Post above is bullseye dead on :) Nothing is worse that LEDs for nuisance light pollution- metal halide lamps at car lots are nothing compaired to the LED problem- I can see LED light pollution skyglow over a couple nearby cities that was not there before outdoor LEDs began to go into...

KDS-60 - Corrosion & Leaking At Drain Pump

Looks like it has been leaking from the pump shaft seal and/or pump-sump gasket in addition to the leak indicated at the drain valve. Motor probably locked up from rusty bearings-very fixable i would say, but I am not familiar parts avalibility of old Hobart parts. The motor bearings can usually...

    The Maytag Atlantis

These were fairly common to find about 15 yrs ago,now rare : i grabbed one at the dump, found it in working order, and washed several loads in it before placing into storage and later giving to a guy at work. Another was recovered at the curb, found it worked, but had major runout(wobble) of the...

Does anyone have a need for traditional non-LED light bulbs, the kind that were banned?

Those are considered "specialty" bulbs and exempt from the goofy "ban" Cats love those high wattage bulbs when they are operated at low voltage and placed in their shelter with a protective grille... :) I hate most outdoor LEDs with a passion: often ineffective lighting with insane glare and...

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

I gave the Philco a quick look over after I got it: rubber motor mounts are bad and there is a big carbon resistor burnt in two under the amp as well as several of the loved/hated "bumblebee" capacitors.

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

thanks for the under pics of that '58 RCA consolette :) I have a 1954 Philco mono consolette that is similar-(both amp and changer are inop and need a good going through someday-amp is fairly substantial with a pair of octal push-pull output tubes. Amp has no power transformer and uses a pair...
