8 Reasons Using Liquid Detergent Is Better

Beg pardon, there but Church and Dwight/Arm and Hammer absolutely does produce laundry detergent with enzymes. 3 enzymes https://churchdwight.com/ingredient-disclosure/laundry-fabric-care/40501313-oxiclean-refreshing-lavender-and-lily.aspx 2 enzymes...

8 Reasons Using Liquid Detergent Is Better

All of the companies (Henkel, P&G, Unilever, Kao, etc etc etc) make detergents with differing components; on the highest level to make sense for the local conditions/market but also in the cheaper lines to reach their price point and expecation point regarding fragrance, viscosity, etc etc. A...

    Frigidaire matching set

I lust after one of those 30" with the tall backsplash in white---have the perfect slot in the kitchen for it. Had a friend with a 40" in Harvest who doted on that range...

    A Few New Detergents

I grabbed a box of those Ariel pods when we were in Manchester UK to wash with; brought the rest home. The box was really well designed to be both childproof and all-cardboard. Pods seemed to work well both in the FL Bosch we used at the B&B and the rest in my DD Whirlpool at home.

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

The Crisco launch is so fascinating---the recipe books that were developed in multiple languages and the work done with ethnic communities...the Kosher cookbook is really interesting in just how revolutionary a neutral (pareve) solid fat was.

    Modern Living: Part Sixteen

Boy this series gives one so many questions! Looks like Norge refrigerator/stove in that kitchen. Cotton wartime mattresses. Somehow thought salt water pools were a recent thing (or weren't they generating chlorine by breaking down the salt back in those days). Dansk cookware...so...

i just bought a new flagship Siemens dishwasher (SN27YI82DT) and I have many questions.

That dissolvable barrier is a brilliant design--some clever engineer thought that up.

Yes, this is what I was thinking of. Thanks for clarifying.

    Tricity Marquis Stove

On a slight tangent...was there ever a freezer plant in Scotland? Every now and again you see older small freezers here in the US with aluminum innards and I swear they have a "made in Scotland" label on them. Was it some weird conversion thing for one of the plants that made twin-tub washing...

Commercial Washer Recommendations for Developing Country

I've got to think that old front load commercial machines (Wascator) would be the best solution rather than anything top loading. As you say, avoid electronics...hard mount if you can get the slab poured...think simple simple.

    Early Youngstown dishwasher/sink combo

The 30" wide Youngstown with the spin tube was horrid. Moved into a house in 1978 with one and we swapped it out (leaving a 6" gap) within a month. Had a large plate capacity but poor glasses/bowls capacity. My mom had had a roto-rack Sears in the previous house so didn't suffer a 28 year old...

Black Plastic Kitchen Utensils & Food Containers May Contain Toxic Chemical

my husband is an audiophile, and we also have a console stereo (1964 Fisher Futura) which is fun. The amount of ozone it produces, though is noticeable (right after we got it he was playing it using Bluetooth for a radio station in California. I was upstairs (it sits near the stairway) and as...

    Success! Maytag Performa dryer saved

A friend relies on me for appliance repair and moral support---we've replaced her disposer, etc etc. So when she said "the dryer's rumbling, will you help me have a look" I replied "sure". Maytag Performa from about 24 years ago, so likely the Norge design. She'd replaced the washer a couple...

Tupperware files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Not sure they ever actually manufactured in Kissimmee/Orlando. Their last plant was in Hemingway, South Carolina (have an acquaintance who sells Tupperware and he went there about 10 years ago after a sales contest).

    PNG and the Australian market

P&G really only "plays" in Europe, China/SE Asia and North America in laundry---they aren't as sophisticated on the lower end as Unilever or local companies. Anywhere they can push Tide they're happy too---the sticker indicates this is the real thing/isn't "gray market"

    interesting Canadian ad 1963

Premiums in staples have a loooooooooong history. Kirk's American Family soap was a long-time Chicago brand that had coupons on the boxes/wrappers and a few redemption stores around the city (the company got bought in the 50s by P&G). Other types of premiums: coupons on cigarettes; Betty...

    interesting Canadian ad 1963

Washing machine manufacturer doesn't look familiar...the agitator shown on the washer lid looks vaguely Easy...any ideas? (This site has some interesting early 60s ads from both Canada and the US. https://media.dlib.indiana.edu/media_objects/b8516845k
