Just scored this DE102 yesterday. Craigslist find. The couple I got it from said it's been in their family since around 1962 and were giving it away since they had no use for it anymore and it was just taking up space. They wanted to make sure it went to a good home,so after I told them that I'd...

Thanks Lawrence. It was definitely one of the selling points to my old Craftsman house, bought it from the original family. Was told it was it was installed in 1960, and yes it's got asbestos! I'm hoping I could get a few more years out of the floor before I have to remodel it.. Here's another...

Been meaning to post sooner, thanks again to everyone for their help. The problem with the control panel light was the FS-2 starter. I purchased a couple from my local Home Depot for a whopping $2.38 and have been enjoying using my Maytags... I actually look forward to doing laundry now,lol...

:-) The enthusiasm on this forum has put a huge grin on my face. I really appreciate all the responses! @brian: Thanks,I see where you're coming from, no hard feelings. @bluejay: Thanks, I thought it may be the ballast as well, when I removed it, it made no difference as far as how the light...

Been meaning to post and respond sooner, got my plate pretty full with projects. @hippiedoll: Thanks doll, they're just about there. I actually wanted to paint them gloss black, however, I for one have too many projects and two I didn't want to make them "less desirable" or "devaluate" them in...

Thanks to all replies! @kenmore71: How were you able to figure out the month and dates on these? @goatfarmer: Is there a thread on how to lubricate the motor slide? Here are some more before pics, excuse the double post, I can't edit or delete it yet. I'm going to finish cleaning, sanding and...

Hello everybody and Happy 4th. Not sure if I have to do an intro, but here it goes.. After spending months searching daily for a pair of late '50s to mid '60s Maytag washer and electric dryer, I "settled" for a newer pair I found on Craigslist. The washer is a Model DE808, Serial # 571326 A6...
