    Hudson Washing Machine

I think to this very day, I mourn the loss of Hudson's department stores in Michigan and Marshall Fields in Chicago. People today will never know what it was like to shop in an actual department store that did and sold everything. And then when you were tired, you could go to the in store...

    2002 Ford Ranger 2.3l

We had a 00 Ranger step side 4wd. Unfortunately, it was pretty trouble prone its whole life. Some areas of repeat repairs on ours were upper/lower ball joints, rocker arms, front suspension components. Body hardware like door handles, hood release, tailgate. The 4wd system eventually just...

    Maytage Jet Clean portable

Hi and yes, its a real Maytag, made in Newton Ohio. Has the spray tower in the middle. I'm not sure of its exact age, I bought it used. It's really been a great machine, don't want to give up on it. I'm searching local ads looking for a similar machine but no luck yet.

    Maytage Jet Clean portable

I've had this dishwasher for 12 years now, bought it used when I bought this house. It's been great, cleans really well and until I remodel the kitchen I plan on keeping it. The problem is the racks are rusting in many places and it kind of skeeves me. Lost several tines on the upper and the...

    What ranges your family have/had?

Great thread I'm pretty sure I had that same range in my first mobile home Cole. It was also an early 80's model. Pilot lights only, even for the oven, but Almond was just making an appearance in the 80's so I was surprised the stove was so cheap but in a popular color. My family's house had...

    Furnace replacement

I second that opinion. Nothing compares to hot water systems for heat. My last 2 houses had them, this one does not and I miss them. I replaced my furnace 2 years ago and it was around $4000 and that was just swapping it out.

    Sears bankruptcy looming

I was sad to learn they closed the Sears in Lincoln Park Michigan where I grew up. Was once one of their highest volume stores and now gone. Fond memories of my Grandmother taking us there, the smell of popcorn and new tires, the huge appliance and vacuum department. I'm sure they will tear it...

    Whirlpool/Kenmore Design 2000 Thread

I think it was 1987 when I got my first washer, which was a low end Design 2000. I had just bought my mobile home and my employees got a collection together for Christmas, and it was enough to buy the washer, $325, I sprung for the matching dryer. I remember looking at really inexpensive...

Creeping Up Upon Us - Thanksgiving

My husbands family is absolutely bizarre with dessert and coffee. No thought or presentation, usually served still in the boxes from the store it was bought at. Coffee can only be made by brother in law, and only makes 8 cups no matter how many people are there, because "that's how I always...

I hada to turn on the furnace Tuesday AM 1st Time

We went from a/c to heat in just a few days. It was so humid and damp couldn't turn the a/c off and then it went cold, barley in the 50's and 30's at night. Using up the last of last years oil and just ordered another 150 for hopefully Nov and Dec.

Vintage Kenmore and Whirlpool washers & dryers available

I would love the 63 LK 800's. My neighbors growing up who were a big influence in my life had the exact same set. Lots of great memories helping with the wash and a fun ,fun machine to use. Sadly, I have no place to keep them. Nice to see you posting again Gordon, been a long time. :)

    Motel/Hotel AC units

SO this brings up a question I've always had..with these units and/or window units, what fan speed dehumidifies better? low or high? I always thought high as it brings more air over the coils but I have a window unit that has a dehumidify function and the fan only runs on low.

    Wall AC pros and cons

I actually liked thru the wall units My last house, a custom built 56 Ranch had 2 built in a/c's. Both were original and still there when we bought in 1998. The family room, which originally was called a dormitory for the live in help and later converted to a family room, had a GE "thin line"...

What make window a/c is this?

The ad says "air temp" as manufacturer which would make it a Chrysler, but I've seen a ton of those around here in NY and Brooklyn and they were usually Fedders.

Maytag Washer MVWP575GW Review with matching Dryer

It's not a particularly nice looking washer is it? I don't care for the exposed screws and bolts. Glad that it performs well though.

    Air Conditioners

I would love to have central a/c, its on "the list",and when I have an extra $10,000 i will do it, meanwhile i live with window units. They aren't vintage,at least 10+ tears old, but happy with 3 of the 4 I have. Sharp 8k is about 14 and one of the first energy star units. Not "library quiet...
