Out of any washer in existence, Whirlpool direct drives cleaned the best, especially on high speed.

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

IIRC your washer was featured in "Popular Mechanics" some time ago. In terms of dependability your washer does win out.

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

More than advanced, they essentially started from scratch with the idea of making the washer as serviceable as possible while being a durable as durable as possible. That GE washer commercial that claims that every other washer came from old ideas and that the model T is the byproduct of new...

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

I'd love to see a movie or documentary on the greatest washer success in history. Considering its intensive development, the tech friendly centric design and how it made up of 90% of washer sales at its peak it is definitely a topic worthy of mention.

    New Classic Vintage Osterizer Blender

Are these anything like the vintage Osterizers of the 80s and 90s? Are they any good or worth buying? Do they use the original multi tapped motor design or have they also migrated to electronics? Obviously they switched to a plastic jar, however I am unsure what else if anything has changed...

    Commercial Blender

For the money I am wondering if I can find a blender with a beefier but ditches the electronic control for a toggle switch. Though, sadly, it seems like some of the toggle switch models now have "soft start" control boards in them.

    Commercial Blender

Looks like the Breville Super Q is the winner in that video. Is such performance possible in toggle switch models? I remember years ago being at smoothy restaurant that had blenders with a single toggle switch, ran most of the day, and made everything super smooth. I'd go for one of those.

Does anyone know of a good commercial grade blender? By commercial I mean something that a smoothy bar or restaurant would use.

Whirlpool's revised models - what have they changed in the normal cycle?

Some old dryers had the option of being field re-configured from 120/240 volt operation to 120 volt operation by connecting both L2 and N of the terminal block to the neutral side of a 120 volt cord. To compensate for 1/4 the heating power these dryers often offered up to 130 or more minutes...

Whirlpool's revised models - what have they changed in the normal cycle?

Not common because dishwashers required a 120 volt circuit at the time of installation. Stoves, dryers, AC units, water pumps, wall heaters, ect received a 240 volt circuit because the instructions and label called for it. Dryers were offered in either 120 or 120/240 volts. Those with existing...

    AI Erasing Vintage Appliance History?

Whirlpool referred to it as the "Power Clean Filter Module" A cover pic of their service manual: I get your point, you need to play around with terminology, changing it from the original or official established until you get a pertinent answer.

How Would You Imagine A 2025 Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer?

My honest opinion is that many Appliances peaked in the 90s and early 2000s. After that has been a down hill race.

    AI Erasing Vintage Appliance History?

The worst I've seen is AI moderation which is nearly everywhere on almost every platform. AI moderation is not only widely hit or miss, but also a gatekeeper of information (some of which is blatantly false) which will potentially delete anything it does not agree with. Imagine a world where AI...

    AI Erasing Vintage Appliance History?

This one really gets to me. We on here know what the Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module was. A self cleaning zero maintenance 1/3 HP design HP that was the peak and success of automatic dish-washing. Yet today when you Google "Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module" it shows and describes the...

    The KitchenAid EnergySaver IV's - 16mm Film

It was not just Whirlpool's magnum opus, but also humanity's. Now, today if you Google "Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module" you get few results relevant to the original standard tub designs. What ever the reason they are trying to erase history. Success appears not to be profitable.

    The KitchenAid EnergySaver IV's - 16mm Film

I love that brass tuning ball  Your Whirlpool Gold 940 was the absolute peak in automatic dish-washing. It was the best cleaning and most energy efficient dishwasher ever made in the history of humanity. With some slight tweaks it could have been made to be even quieter, and with some...

Whirlpool's revised models - what have they changed in the normal cycle?

I've never understood why US dishwasher never started off with 240 volt power as did other appliances. I feel 120 volts is a triple whammy which greatly reduces the efficiency of any dishwasher that has a wash motor larger than about 90 watts. Follow me on this. Cleaning is a combination of...

    The KitchenAid EnergySaver IV's - 16mm Film

The thing is with sound dampening, insulation, a precision balanced motor and a sound tuning ball, a dishwasher like a Power Clean or Hobart Kitchen-Aid could be made to produce soothing, muffled tones with a lower decibel level than most other vintage machines.

    The KitchenAid EnergySaver IV's - 16mm Film

Id rather have a loud (which doesn't necessarily mean irritating sound) dishwasher that runs in a short amount of time than one that is silent but runs for hours. 18 gallons of water uses less energy if it means no pre-washing.

    The KitchenAid EnergySaver IV's - 16mm Film

1/2 HP should be the minimum for automatic dishwashers. Want to talk about energy efficiency? How about a cool running motor.
