    Buffing your plastic and bakelite...

RCD... ...that thread about maytags and the wringers, using coatings 'n such is what got me to posting about it. I'm pretty sure it would work, although I don't have a Maytag agitator to find out :) But I played with a number of different plastics and bakelite, and they all came out looking...

    Buffing your plastic and bakelite...

Jon... ...the buff job you see above was done on a 3600 rpm buffer. The string buff and plastic-glo will give you the same results! Enjoy! John

Im New Here! My First Thread, Hotpoint Liberators

Well James... ...I don't have a laundry machine collection, as I live in an apartment. (So for me it's vacuums and other vintage small appliances). BUT I can assure you you will find some of the best people here. I've been on the site for a time -- took a long period of not posting, so most...

    Buffing your plastic and bakelite...

For those of you who enjoy doing your own restore work, I'd like to point you to a site that has been instrumental in my own work. My main collection is vacuum cleaners. I love doing the polishing and buffing on the aluminum jobs. I have had great experiences with the products from these folks...

    Portable Whirlpool "World Washer"....uh oh...?

Yay! Another portable saved, hopefully. I was able to get my tub seal for about $25 including shipping, off eBay. Kenny, I hope you get it going, keep us posted, would you? And NorfolkSouthern, I saw your Harvest Gold beauty on another thread. Now that is one sweet lookin' washer! Anxiously...

A tribute to our little friend

I'm sorry to hear this, Jeff... ...humankind likes to divide things into neat compartments, humans, animals, dogs, cats, birds, etc. But all living creatures are connected in some way, and over time, that connection runs through your heart, as in the case of your beloved Rudy. My thoughts are...

    SEARS ROTO RACK PICS!!!

Very nice, Petere! ...and it sounds like this guy is going to be better than ever when you are finished with it. I enjoyed reading your assessments of work to be done as you went along. And ah, yes, the versatility of the Dremel tool! (Don't you kind of wonder if you're too into it when you...

    Portable Whirlpool "World Washer"....uh oh...?

Well...wish me that luck... ...because I'm going to go ahead and tear into it :) Everything else on the machine works beautifully. It's as quiet as a church mouse. Shirts spin out to the point they can go straight to the ironing board, other stuff can be air-dried in a reasonable amount of time...

Outer cabinet photo Thanks for the reply, NorfolkSouthern! It's very much appreciated. I'm glad you brought up the point about storage. I understand this thing sat for awhile -- where, and what kind of environment, I don't know. Mine has electronic dials -- switches, really, there's no...

    Portable Whirlpool "World Washer"....uh oh...?

Hey...used the "Searcholator" and found a lot of i ...I did want to add, that it doesn't leak a drop on the fill...just during agitation. I'm hoping I'm not doomed. John

Battle of the Portable Washing Machines - Twin Tubs vs Automatic Portables

This *IS* a great discussion...thanks! I've long had a fascination for "twin tubs" as I understand for the most part, the spin speeds are quite high in comparison to a conventional top loading automatic. And they are a slightly different way of doing things -- which always gets my attention...

    Portable Whirlpool "World Washer"....uh oh...?

Found the leak...tub seal? If so, any ideas of what I'm in for? Is it worth it to fix? I'd like to, as this little guy is pretty darn handy. And I have to start somewhere, right? (But is this the job to start with?) Pic below. You can see the dampness where the one part flares out like a bell...

Maytag Wringer! My first vintage piece!

Oh, just one time won't hurt... ...and then you're hooked. Tim said "I'm not really an old appliance collector." You are now. It starts with one. Just one hit. That's all it takes, and you're hooked. Since I live in an apartment, I can't really collect washers 'n dryers. About 5 years ago, I...

1974 Lady K found and brought home!!

Beautiful washer.... ...I washed many a times "at home" with a similar machine. Which brings me to a question....when did this style of Kenmore Pushbutton come on the market? We had one, but it was not a "Lady" Kenmore. The buttons, if I remember correctly, were gold with white print, no...

Allow Everyone Access to E-books - The Petition Site

Just to clarify my statements Lawrence said " Last I knew, polite curiousity was still legal." Lawrence, if my comments came off as combative or provocative, I sincerely apologize as I did not intend for them to be that way. Seeing your posts here over the years, you're one of the nicest guys...
