Most and/or Best Bells and Whistles

KM * * * * Rating! Thanks for posting the KM pushbutton and 4-star pics. They had it all over Whirlpool for styling, probably more different models over the years than anyone (open to debate?) Due to the ubiquitous Sears catalog, a lot of us quickly recoginze 'em, too. (I'd forgotten about the...

Most and/or Best Bells and Whistles

Applicance consoles and auto dashboards Anyone ever notice the correlation between the way each was styled through the years? Late forties, both were functional, plain. Mid to late fifties, unbelievable variety, as if they were entries in design contests! Early sixties, still plenty of chrome...

WC63 Copper set Frigidaire A must look!!

oh! OH! Brett, These are truly beautiful. As cool as the old Frigidaires were inside, this style is my all-time favorite from outside. When did they start the canted control panel? I'm sure I'd seen some with the previous generation three-ringer - '61 or 2 maybe? I doubt the panel was lighted...

    WD-59 Obtained

Correction... I'd posted ealier on thread 7800, "A Real Treat", where Robert shared the pulsamatic videos.

    WD-59 Obtained

You found it! Great machine, Peter. Best of luck with the restoration, I know you'll do your best! Robert solved a mystery of mine as this unfolded: I'd posted earlier about my cousin's pulsamatic in the "Show us..." thread. It looked a lot like yours, but I'm sure was a pulsamatic, so my...

    > A Real Treat

Pulsamatics in Texas Lee, My cousin had a later model pulsamatic in Amarillo in the early sixties. It had a different agitator (gray with the spring-loaded detergent cap) and ran much faster than our neighbor's Frigidaire, probably a uni- or multi-matic. Always wondered about the difference...

    KitchenAid KDS-18 NIB!!!

Kitch-N-Sinkerator? Another beauty! Looks like the equivalent of a KA Imperial, later '80's maybe, in fact it may be post Hobart, judging by the interior. Bob: We're still looking for a KA for you up here in Dallas. Haven't had any others like mine crawl out to the curb just yet.

    KitchenAid KDS-18 NIB!!!

The dashboard I always loved the control layout on Superbas. This one came with the trim kit, but no panels.

    KitchenAid KDS-18 NIB!!!

Wide-open It may even still smell new

    KitchenAid KDS-18 NIB!!!

The sold it! I just looked (6:10 CDT) and it sold for the BIN of $995 about 2:30 Pacific time. Beautiful machine, like all the the real Kitchen Aids. It will disappear from E-bay pretty soon, so I grabbed some pictures I'll post here for anyone who missed it. Bob, how full could you load this...

    9/12 POD - Branded laundromats

I may be confused... I thought the laundromat picture was from Tuesday's POD, then went back and looked Sudsman's Westinghouse laundry post. OH, BOY, loosing my mind so soon? Anyway the old full-service laundromats were neat places, the toxic aroma of perchlorethylene not withstanding.

    9/12 POD - Branded laundromats

Does anyone remember the Helpee-Selfee and Poly Clean laundromats? Poly Clean was a Whirlpool branded franchise, there was one when I lived in Amarillo, TX in the early sixties, what a cool place! Coin-op dry cleaners and even a steam press. Whirlpool had very attractive machines, the...

    > Show Us the Inside of your Frigidaires

WIC owner's guide Still have the washer (regular use) as it came with the house. So did these! Alas, the dryer had been replaced.

    > Show Us the Inside of your Frigidaires

Wonderful reference I had asked almost the same question Frigilux asked back when I first discovered this site. Robert was kind enough to answer then, now this helps complete the picture! Great idea to create a permanent collection. The early 60's with the 'clamshell' dashboards are still my...

    Washer and Vac on Bewitched

Laundress, check this out You're right, most TV exteriors didn't match the plan, and many of those plans could never be built (apartments with a window on the same wall as a door into the hallway??) There's an interesting book by Mark Bennet called 'TV Sets' including floor plans he created as...

    Washer and Vac on Bewitched

That website! WOW! That guy really likes Betwitched! Sure enough, the Frigidaire kitchen shows the classic orginals, their TOL stuff, to be sure. But hey, their sponsor was GM! I remember when the house went more colonial, out with the Heywood-Wakefield and Jens Risom (too bad) but don't...

    7-19 POD Frigidaire

I don't doubt it Well, having never looked further inside than the tub, I don't doubt the works are, well, unique. Unfortunately, I'm not mechanially inclined, which will limit any collection. Heaven help if my old 1-18 ever goes out... How are your's going, Steve? Is this vintage worse than...

    7-19 POD Frigidaire

I check the P's OD regularly, hoping to find Frigidaire washers of this vintage. I noticed something similar parked next to the old Philco in the "Free machines" post. Greg, have any photos of/information about that 60's Frigi? Maybe one of those was the first Frigidaire I ever saw, 'cause...

Bet you've never seen a Speed Queen wash like this!

More suds at U-Tube SOMETHING didn't look right, not familiar with the old Easy's, so I'm glad it was explained. In the U-Tube link, check out the FL movies. The Speed Queen is by far the most interesting, the Duet is pretty boring. Still love front-loaders with windows - better then TV!

    Whirlpool Top-Loading Dishwasher

Look closely at that photo I wish you could see more of the Frigidaire parked on the left! The Rapidry referred to in another post? By the time I looked on eBay, the dishwasher was sold (one bid) and only the range was the only other appliance left on the site. Did one of you get washer?
