    Vintage Vacuums!

@brian: Washing Early Vacuum Bags... It has been my experience that washing early vacuum bags will simply damage them. The best thing to do if you must wash them is: 1) Vacuum the bag out 2) Soak, (do not agitate) the bag in cold to cool/warm water and VERY mild soap/detergent. 3) spin dry if...

How to make clothesline clothes softer

Growing up, we always would Line-Dry our clothes. I used to like to watch the Green Beatles land on the sweet smelling laundry and rest before having to continue their journey in the hot summer day. And for the record, I have to admit I like that stiff rough feeling that towels get when hung out...

    Citrus Brand Soap Flakes

Years ago I was able to buy a Soap called "Citrus". The box was yellow, I think the word "Citrus" was in red, and there was a blue ribbon with white letters that said "Soap Flakes". I used to get it at "Lucky's"... haha. The box it self was the size of a cereal box. I can't find this ANYWHERE...

    Maytag Agitator Variations

How many different agitator variations were there for Maytag Automatics? This is not in reference to the difference between the "Standard" and "Extra Large Capacity". So far I am only aware of the Turquoise "Powerfin" and one black "Bakelite" version. The Bakelite version that I have seen had a...

    Which Brand To Look For?

@yogitunes; They'd be daily drivers. I'm leaning towards a Maytag A700. I know Pink would be my first choice but am aware that these may be very difficult to find, the same as Yellow and Turquoise. But standard White is good for me too.

Early to mid 1960's Maytag Automatic

@Kevin My GOODNESS! Haha, you have a great collection there! It's really hard for me to narrow it down to a certain year, model and brand because there are so many BEAUTIFUL machines to be had. But I think the set that I'd like to get would be late 50's or early 60's Maytags. Years ago when I...

    Which Brand To Look For?

Hello everyone, I'm new to this group of early automatic enthusiasts. I am currently in the market of finding an early washer and drier set. My forte being late 1920's and early 1930's appliances, I feel the need to ask those that are in the know of early automatics. So I ask you, which brand...
