1956 Norge Time Line up for grabs!

It did work after repairing the start switch in the motor, but will need to be (at least cosmetically) restored.

1956 Norge Time Line up for grabs!

I have decided to sell my Norge Time Line so that I can (hopefully) get an early Frigidaire with the proceeds! Anyone interested? I am open to offers or maybe a trade.

    GE Adora Front load washer

Well, I partially checked out the "Adora" tonight. I wasn't ready to drag it over to the laundry tub and hook it up to water yet, so I tried a small bit of air pressure to the fill valve to get it to agitate, rotate, whatever.. Anyhow, it did rotate forward and backward, so it is doing that much...

    GE Adora Front load washer

I saved several GE front load washers from the crusher (for now anyway) at my local scrap yard. Several were GE "Adora" front load units that are a little over a year old! They were missing the data tags, so I am assuming they were scrapped by an appliance store. (the guy at the yard said...

'56 Norge cleaned up and working!

I'll try to get a pic of the console lit within the next day or two. I have all my vintage washers sitting on furniture dollies, so they can be moved easily around the basement. When I want to use one, I just roll it over to the laundry area, take it off the dolly, hook it up and use!

Early maytag cabinet and controls for sale

I was at an estate sale over the weekend and found an early Maytag washer cabinet for sale. Apparently, at some time, the owner gutted it, and made the front hinge outward! They installed a shelf and used it for storage. I thought it was still complete, until I lifted the lid! I was thinking...

'56 Norge cleaned up and working!

After looking at Robert's Norge, I notice it's a "Luxury Line" model. Maybe mine is more BOL. (Although it still has the lit console).

'56 Norge cleaned up and working!

As far as I can see, yes. I am thinking it is a 1956 model. At least the date on the solenoid, that is! I didn't look for any other date codes on the timer or motor yet. Maybe the tub was changed at some point in time?

'56 Norge cleaned up and working!

I decided to get busy on the Norge yesterday, and get it going. When tested, all the motor would do was hum when the timer was in agitate or spin mode. To repair this, I had to disassemble the motor and repair the centrifugal switch assembly inside. (Lucky for me, the windings weren't toast!)...

Bell System Equipment in service 45 years!

I was just thinking about the items I use every day. Downstairs is the '62 WE phone system, 1970 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII washer, upsatairs a WE "Merlin" system, a 1950 Sunbeam T-20 toaster, Sunbeam egg cooker from the same year, 1964 Hoover DAM, 1968 Steelcase desk, 1964 RCA CTC-16 color...

Bell System Equipment in service 45 years!

I ended up getting six standard 565 HK desk sets (several pictured) and a 661 card dialer multiline phone as well. It looks similar in appearance to a call director, but has a slot to insert a punch card that dials the number for you. I haven't seen a 1A1 system in use for at least 25 years...

Bell System Equipment in service 45 years!

No tubes, just a lot of relays! In fact, it uses three per line, plus a few more on the intercom unit. The range was an old Frigidaire electric.

A pic of it on my desk for testing..

Bell System Equipment in service 45 years!

Here's something you don't see every day, an old 1962 Bell System Western Electric 1A1 key service unit. It came out of the same Church Rectory as the Norge washer I got in mid January. Seeing that the old building was slated for demolition, I just had to save this multi line office phone...

    Maytag 806 set

Due to some people here looking for lighted console 'Tags I have decided to sell my Maytag 1976 806 set that I got from the original owner last year. (maybe this will help someone end their search!)It would be better for me to concentrate my space and effort on the Norge and another machine. The...

Norge Timeline saved from the bulldozer!

Thanks! But I didn't really "find" the washer, it found me! Another member came across it, and told me where it was. (along with the fact that it had only days before its destruction!) This was another close one. However, not as close as the scrapyard where I found the 1959 Kenmore set! They had...

Norge Timeline saved from the bulldozer!

Here's a close up of the tag. Come to think of it, looks like the model is AW-450S
