    Museum-to-Go...only 250k...

Maybe, but you'd be spending a lot of time finding a double door Frigidaire with all the accessories. Maybe we should have a collection and buy the lot for the general use of AW people.

    Kelvinator vs Leonard?

I saw the Speed Queen vs Amana question on another forum today. I know the Leonard was a 19th Century icebox maker, and that Kelvinator bought them out in the 1920s, but why would they have made refrigerators under both names in the 1930s if it were the same company? And don't get me started on...

    1929 Magic Chef Series 1000

And its a nice BIG one too. The standard 1920s ranges are smaller in person than they look. Great Magic Chef!

    New deliveries

Dave, A vintage fridge can be recharged, you just need the appropriate refrigerant, the correct hardware, and a few hours to do it properly. Travis and I are working on trying to find SO2. The late Mike Arnold said that a Monitor Top will run on R-12 Freon (not R-134A) but will be noisier...

    New deliveries

Why would one need to mechanically update a vintage refrigerator if it works safely and reliably? The GEs are well nigh bulletproof, and the Frigidaires (once they started using a rotary compressor) are fine machines too. Isn't part of the fun of vintage equipment that it has a "personality?"...

    Refrigerator I.D.?

LOL. Well thats about as far as my chemistry knowledge goes. But after the time I assisted in getting a 1925 Jewett touring car started in a garage, I learned the difference between the two pretty quick!

    Refrigerator I.D.?

Its not CO2 (carbon dioxide) its CO (carbon monoxide) that one has to worry about. I'm told from others that these refrigerators were dangerous only when the user did not do the routine maintainance of cleaning the kerosene burner. Just like an oil lamp, you have to clean the air holes in the...

    Refrigerator I.D.?

It might be a GE, but I "think" most of the GEs had a much smaller bullseye in the center. Also, the GEs most always have General Electice around the logo. Check out the picture below, thats about a 1947 model. I'm also looking at the horizontal door handle. None of the Kelvinators I've seen...

    Refrigerator I.D.?

Its not a postwar Kelvinator, they had a handlebar that went horizontally across the front with a round indentation in the door where you'd grasp the handle. Most stylish. I wish the picture were more detailed. I think its a postwar machine based on the smooth door and general shape. GE was a...

Well if its Firestone I'm willing to make an exception. :) Bring it on!

    Looking for prewar refrigerator everything!

Hey guys, I'm giving into my OCD and am looking for any documentary stuff for pre-WW2 refrigerators. If you have photos of your machines (if its not a GE Monitor Top its especially welcome) or copies of original ads I'd love to see them. I'm especially seeking photos of decals inside the doors...

    Green Frigidaire Glassware?

Travis and I are already partners in crime. He talked me into the Frigidaire that started this all. Now I'm trying to see what other machines I need.

    Green Frigidaire Glassware?

I know this is going out on a limb but... I know that if you bought a new Frigidaire refrigerator in the late 1920s or early 1930s you got a set of frosted lime green glassware with a water carafe, iced tea pitcher, ice bucket, and milk bottle cap. Does anyone know what years these were sold...

    victor talking machine

The Granada's a NICE machine. Very 1920s. Pay the extra dollars to get a good professional to rebuild the Orthophonic sound box. The diaphraghm is stamped aluminum and very thin. Also the needlebar on those runs on magnetic ball bearings. Its not something that you'd want to teach yourself to...

End Of An Era - Polaroid To Cease Production of Instant Film

Don't forget about type 55. Its a positively gorgeous film if you shoot 4x5. I hope someone else picks it up.

Obscene images confiscated from Abercrombie & Fitch store, manager charged

I'm still in their target demographic. While in college (1999-2004) in Washington, I was in A&F Home Country and thought their stuff was stylish but overpriced. Around 2002, they also got into pre-tattered clothing with ripped out hemlines and acid washed everything. What the hell? Why would I...
