    Susan Boyle: Amazingly Good Singer

Fantastic. This is so refreshing in a time when the mass public places more value on looks and being a certain size than it does true musical talent such as this lady possesses. Look at Ella Fitzgerald. One of the best voices there ever was. She was successful simply because of her talent and...

    Viking 7 Qt. Mixer

That's one badass looking mixer. I have a newer Kitchenaid that was purchased, I'd say about three years ago. Something got discombobulated, and when I raise the bowl, it raises too high and hits the whisk (or whatever attachment I'm using). So I have to raise the lever just so, and stand...

    Parents Say The Darnest Things

" do you think this is a restaurant?? You will eat what Ha! My mom used to say this to us when we were little too. If we were being particularly picky "Oh, I'm so sorry Mrs. Astor, I'll get your (fill in the blank) right away. Can I get you a warm towel with that?" Usually after a harsh...

Stars you wish that were still around..

Laundromat and EstatesaleGary... I found this footage online of the rarely seen "Supremes in the Orient" tape. Click on the link and skip to 4:20 for Flo's lead part on "People". What a haunting voice. And stunning beauty. Too bad the more mainstream shows didn't feature this. I can't believe...

    Big Day Today in California

On a more serious note... I agree with you Robert. It sickens me to think of all the energy and resources religious groups have put into preventing loving couples from being married. It just blows my mind that with the housing crisis, unemployment, and all the other problems we are facing, this...

Housesitting: Some vintage and not so vintage appliances (picture thread)

Greg The original washer/dryer must have been replaced. In the laundry room is a Whirlpool pair that appear to be from the early 90's. I didn't snap a pic of them. There is however an old Ironrite in the basement. I haven't gotten it out to look at it yet.

Maytagbear That's Smudge. He's one of the two cats I'm taking care of. He's friendly and loves people, but the female cat Cinderella, is VERY shy and hides under the bed all the time.

1953 Hotpoint Dishwasher kicks out the KitchenAid 14 Portable

Beautiful! I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that detergent dispenser.

Power unit... Who ever installed this messed up. It should have been exhausted to the outside, or at least with a muffler. It is LOUD. I can't stand to go near it when its on.

After the dishes... Comes the vacuuming. This is a mid 70's Nutone system. Still works like a champ. I usually use the Miele though, because this system didn't have the powerhead with it. But it does come with the shag rug tool!

Garbage disposal... I never knew Speed Queen made garbage disposals. I can't get a picture of the whole label due to the way it's installed, but this gives you an idea....

How'd they turn out? Spotless. Absolutely spotless. Keep in mind I have a modern Kenmore at home that's practically worthless. If I'd done this load in it, the cheese grater would have come out with the cheese still on it, plus some of the spinach from the bowl.
